Warm Mineral Springs in July: Air at 91.1°F, Water at 84.6°F and 10.7 Rain Days

July brings a normal high of 91.1°F to this corner of southwest Florida. The spring below was reading 84.6°F (29.2°C) when the USGS gauge on site was checked on September 11, 2026, and it reads close to that on any date of any month. A spring has no season. The air above it does, and in July that difference is the entire argument for driving down.

What the date takes back is rain: 7.39 inches in an average July, spread over 10.7 days that record at least 0.10 inch. It also puts you inside the American summer school break, which is a booking problem before it is a weather problem. Two nights and an early alarm handle both, and the rest of the cost question belongs to our Florida budget guide.

July works if the trip is built around morning swims and indoor afternoons: the water holds 84.6°F while the air runs to 91.1°F, and daylight lasts until 8:26 pm.

Think twice before: planning fixed outdoor hours at midday, or counting on an admission price we could not verify.

The air figures here come from NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information, 1991-2020 monthly normals, and the thermometer behind them is not at the spring: it stands at the Sarasota Bradenton airport station, about 27 miles (44 km) up the coast. That station puts July’s average high at 91.1°F, its average low at 75.2°F and its rainfall at 7.39 inches. Those are station normals from a real instrument, not a grid-cell reanalysis, and they describe the air only.

Measurable rain, meaning 0.10 inch or more, falls on 10.7 days in an average July, so about one day in three gets wet at some point. A full inch or more lands on 2.3 of them, call it two real soakings in the month. Florida’s summer rain generally arrives in the afternoon and moves on, so a wet day and a lost day rarely turn out to be the same thing. A trip organized around morning water and indoor afternoons loses very little to that statistic.

Between 91.1°F and 75.2°F there are 15.9 degrees, and the night gives back less than most American summers do. Pack for heat from breakfast to bedtime instead of packing layers. A hat, a rash guard for shoulders in the water, one dry shirt for the drive home, and shoes you can soak without regret. Anything that must stay dry travels in a bag that closes, because 2.3 days a month arrive with an inch of rain in them.

On July 15 the sun rises at 6:43 am and sets at 8:26 pm local time, giving 13 hours 43 minutes of daylight, per sunrise-sunset.org. The late end is the useful one. An 8:26 pm sunset means a shower at four costs you nothing, since there is still light for a second swim at six and a meal outdoors afterward.

How hot does it get at Warm Mineral Springs in July, and how warm is the water?

July’s normal high is 91.1°F and its normal low 75.2°F, 15.9 degrees apart. The spring sits between the two. USGS station 02299260 read 84.6°F (29.2°C) on September 11, 2026, and reads close to that on any day of the year, which puts the water roughly 6.5°F below the afternoon air and 9.4°F above the coolest hour of the night.

In practice the same 84.6°F does two different jobs in one day. At seven in the morning, with the air near its 75.2°F normal low, the water is the warmer of the two and you step in without bracing. By two in the afternoon the ratio has flipped and that water is the coolest thing available. Morning calls for a shirt you do not mind sweating through, afternoon for swimming, shade or air conditioning, and more drinking water than you packed.

Freezing nights do not belong to a Florida July, and no cold snap appears in these normals. The NOAA series we read gives monthly averages rather than daily extremes, so we count no record lows here and quote none. The figure that governs the month is that 75.2°F low, which means the parking lot is still warm at ten at night and an evening swim needs no towel waiting on the rail.

How busy and how expensive is Warm Mineral Springs in July?

July falls inside Florida’s wet season, May through October, and inside the American school summer break. Those are calendar facts. A price is not: we found no occupancy series and no monthly room-rate figures for this stretch of the Gulf coast, so we crown no month the busiest and none the cheapest, in either direction.

Booking still deserves a head start, because the supply of rooms within a short drive of the spring is thin rather than because any chart says so. Four to six weeks (est.) is a sensible lead for a two-night July weekend, and far less if you are driving over for the day from the Sarasota side. Our where-to-stay guide sorts the regions, and the flights page covers which airport prices best for this corner of the state.

We could not verify a lodging-tax rate for the county, so we give no percentage at all. Florida room bills carry taxes that the advertised nightly rate leaves out, so read the checkout total before you compare two properties. The three-tier view of what a Florida week costs sits in our trip-cost guide.

The single line where spending more genuinely changes July is the car, not the room. Working air conditioning, and a base close enough that you are in the water by eight and not driving at three in 91°F heat, buys more comfort than any upgrade upstairs. Getting around Florida explains why a car stays non-negotiable out here.

Things to do in Warm Mineral Springs in July

The month’s advantage over the cooler half of the year is contrast. In January that 84.6°F water is a warm bath you get into for its own sake. In July, with the air at a normal 91.1°F, it becomes relief, and daylight to 8:26 pm on the 15th means an afternoon shower can pass through and the swim still happens in full light.

The spring is the destination, and Florida law treats it as a category of its own: Florida Statutes 373.802(5) defines an Outstanding Florida Spring as every historic first-magnitude spring identified by the Florida Geological Survey, plus six more named by hand in the statute. For a Gulf beach afternoon on the same trip, Siesta Key is the natural pairing. For a wilder day at the other end of the same summer, there is the Everglades.

Across the three summer months the water holds and the air climbs. June’s normal high is 90.0°F, July’s 91.1°F, August’s 91.5°F, against a spring reading about 84.6°F on every one of those days. The gap you step into therefore widens from 5.4 degrees in June to 6.5 in July and 6.9 in August. The spring itself holds steady through all three.

We could not verify an admission price or an opening hour. The state park website returned a 403 to our automated reads on September 11, 2026, and the FWC manatee page renders client-side, so we also carry no manatee count for these waters. Call ahead before you drive, and read our manatee guide for the winter side of that story.

Warm Mineral Springs in July: a two-day itinerary

Day one runs early. In the water at 8 am, while the air is still close to its 75.2°F overnight low and the 84.6°F spring feels like a bath. Out by eleven, as the climb toward 91.1°F gets serious. Lunch indoors, then a slow afternoon while the sky does whatever it does on 10.7 days out of 31. Back in the water around six, with sunset at 8:26 pm and enough light afterward to eat outside.

Day two follows the sky. Clear, and it is a Gulf morning at Siesta Key with a second spring swim in the evening. Wet, and the 2.3 days a July delivers an inch or more are the days to drive: the 27 miles (44 km) up to Sarasota buy an indoor afternoon, and the water is still 84.6°F when you get back at six. Two nights covers this comfortably, one works if you skip the beach.

Warm Mineral Springs in July vs June and August

June July August
Average high 90.0°F 91.1°F 91.5°F
Average low 73.6°F 75.2°F 75.3°F
Precipitation 7.05 in 7.39 in 9.11 in
Days with 0.10 in or more 9.0 10.7 11.7
Spring water about 84.6°F about 84.6°F about 84.6°F

Less than two degrees of average high separates the three months: 90.0°F, 91.1°F, 91.5°F. Rain does the sorting instead. June brings 7.05 inches over 9.0 days at 0.10 inch or more, July 7.39 inches over 10.7 days, August 9.11 inches over 11.7 days. The spring reads about 84.6°F through all of it, so the water is never the variable.

Move four weeks back and June gives you 1.7 fewer wet days and 0.34 inch less rain, at the cost of 1.1°F less air heat to escape from. Move four weeks forward and August charges 1.72 more inches of rain and one more wet day for 0.4°F of extra heat. July is the middle term on every line. If the trip is about swimming and dry mornings, June is the tidier bet, and on price we have no series to offer either way.

Is July a good time to visit Warm Mineral Springs?

Yes if the trip is built around getting in the water. The spring’s 84.6°F does not move, the 91.1°F air makes it feel like the correct decision, and 13 hours 43 minutes of daylight on the 15th leaves room for two swims in a day. No if you need long outdoor hours at midday, or a fixed outdoor schedule that 10.7 rainy days will not respect.

If that lands on no, take June. Its 9.0 wet days and 7.05 inches are the lightest of the three summer months, its 90.0°F normal high the mildest, and the water is identical to the degree. Our June page has the detail. For the dry half of the year, the Florida calendar makes the November-to-April case.

Set against its two neighbors, July is the month where a 6.5-degree drop into the spring, an 8:26 pm sunset and a night that never falls below a 75.2°F normal all line up in the same twenty-four hours.

The last word

Set the alarm rather than the itinerary. The same USGS gauge measured 8 cubic feet per second leaving the vent, and that volume is why the water stays clear no matter how many people are standing in it: it is replaced faster than it can cloud. Swim at eight, take the two o’clock heat indoors, keep the 8:26 pm light for a second swim. And call before you drive, since we could not verify the hours.
