Warm Mineral Springs in June: 90°F Days, 84.6°F Water and 9 Rain Days

June is the month when the arithmetic at Warm Mineral Springs flips. The spring holds near 84.6°F all year, so nothing at all changes in the water. The air changes plenty: NOAA’s 1991-2020 normals give June a 90.0°F average high and a 73.6°F average low, with 7.05 inches of rain spread over nine wet days. Same pool, very different month around it.

What June takes away is the dry spring sky. May collects rain on 3.8 days in an average month; June collects it on 9.0, with 2.4 days bringing an inch or more. What it hands back is light: 13 hours 53 minutes of it on June 15, and a sun still above the trees at 8:26 p.m.

June works if you swim early and keep the afternoon loose: the water sits near 84.6°F whatever the calendar says, while the air climbs to a 90.0°F average high and nine days of the month bring measurable rain.

Go for: water at 84.6°F when the dawn air is 73.6°F, evenings that hold light to 8:26 p.m., and a spring whose temperature pays no attention to the season.

Think twice before: booking a fixed outdoor afternoon: June averages a 90.0°F high, 7.05 inches of rain and 2.4 days with an inch or more.

One thing to settle before you drive out: we could not read an entrance fee or an opening hour from an official source, so nothing on those two points comes from us. The rest of the month by month series lives on the Warm Mineral Springs page, the statewide seasons on our best-time guide.

Every air figure here comes from NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information: 1991-2020 monthly normals, logged at station USW00012871 at Sarasota Bradenton airport, roughly 27 miles from the spring. That is a real thermometer rather than a model grid cell, and it is still 27 miles away, so read 90.0°F and 73.6°F as the shape of a June in this corner of the Gulf coast, not as a measurement taken at the water’s edge. The same station records 7.05 inches of rain for the month.

Nine days in an average June collect at least 0.10 inch, so roughly one day in three gets wet, and 2.4 of those days collect an inch or more. On the ground that usually reads as a bright morning, a build-up after noon, a loud half hour and a rinsed sky by evening. It does not read as nine written-off days. Two or three times in the month, though, the rain settles in long enough to redraw an afternoon.

Between 73.6°F and 90.0°F there are 16.4 degrees, and almost all of them arrive between dawn and mid-afternoon. Pack for the top of that range plus the water falling out of the sky: a hat, a shirt you are happy to sweat through, a dry second one for the drive back, and a bag that actually closes. Nothing in these normals asks for a jacket.

June 15 carries 13 hours 53 minutes of daylight, sunrise at 6:33 a.m. and sunset at 8:26 p.m. local. That gives you two cool windows a day instead of one, and the later window is often the better of the two: by six in the evening the sun is low, any storm has usually moved through, and more than two hours of light remain.

How hot does it get at Warm Mineral Springs in June, and how warm is the water?

The month’s two poles are 90.0°F in the afternoon and 73.6°F at dawn, averaged across thirty years. The water sits between them and barely moves: the USGS gauge on the spring, station 02299260, read 84.6°F (29.2°C) on September 11, 2026, and it reads close to that every day of the year. That is a single instantaneous measurement rather than a monthly mean, so take it as the level the spring holds, not as a June average.

At 6:33 a.m. the air is around 73.6°F and the water is 11 degrees warmer, so stepping in takes no courage at all. By mid-afternoon the relationship has inverted: 90.0°F air against 84.6°F water, a 5.4-degree gap the other way. Morning wants something dry waiting on the bench. Afternoon wants shade and a bottle of water, because the pool has stopped being the warm thing in the landscape and become the cool one.

Frost plays no part in this month. We have no freeze-day count for the area, and none is needed where the average low is 73.6°F: the cold risk in a June visit is a rental car with the vents on full, nothing more. For the cooler, drier version of exactly the same water, May runs a 68.2°F dawn.

How busy is Warm Mineral Springs in June? Crowds, prices and the start of hurricane season

June opens two Florida seasons at once: the wet half of the year, and the Atlantic hurricane season, which NOAA dates from June 1 to November 30. The settled, dry stretch runs November through April, as our best-time guide sets out. Price is a separate question, and we found no occupancy series and no monthly room-rate series for this stretch of coast, so we rank no month cheap and no month expensive.

We could not verify a booking-lead figure either, so we give no number of weeks. What the calendar does justify is the refundable rate: inside hurricane season, a system four days out can move a trip that was locked down four months out. Reserve the bed you want, keep the cancellation window open, and watch the tropics in the week before you fly.

On taxes and tickets we are short. We could not verify the county lodging-tax rate, so no percentage comes from us, and we could not read an entrance fee or an opening hour for the spring: the state parks site answers automated reads with a 403. Call or check the operator before you make the drive. Our Florida trip-cost guide covers the statewide lines, resort fees and parking included.

If one line in the budget changes June, it is the distance between your bed and the water. The nearest airport we can place from our own sources is Sarasota Bradenton, about 27 miles out, call it half an hour of quiet road at seven in the morning (est.). Paying to sleep on the right side of that drive buys the 6:33 a.m. hour, the coolest hour the month offers. A car is not optional here, and our getting-around guide explains why.

Things to do in Warm Mineral Springs in June

Against a 90.0°F afternoon, water at 84.6°F is genuine relief. Against May’s 87.5°F it barely qualifies, and the gap keeps widening as summer digs in. June is where the arithmetic tips over: the air passes the water around the middle of the day and stays above it, and a 7 a.m. swim goes from bracing to pleasant, with dawn air at 73.6°F instead of May’s 68.2°F.

The spring itself is the entire list. USGS station 02299260 sits on it and measures two things worth carrying in your head: 84.6°F at the vent, and 8 cubic feet per second leaving it. That flow is the reason the water stays clear, since it gets replaced faster than it can cloud. On fees, hours and whether manatees are anywhere nearby we have nothing verified, so we claim nothing; our manatee guide handles the season and the etiquette.

June changes the air above the water and never the water itself. Nine wet days mean roughly one visit in three meets rain, and 2.4 days in the month bring an inch or more, enough to turn a parking lot into a puddle field and a drive into a crawl. The 84.6°F reading does not flinch under any of it. Lightning is the reason to put the swim in the morning and leave the afternoon as the flexible part of the day.

Since we could not verify what the spring charges, we quote nothing and promise nothing free. What June does hand out at no cost is the two ends of a 13-hour-53-minute day: the hour after 6:33 a.m., when the air is near its daily low, and the hour before 8:26 p.m., when the light goes long and low. For the wider free list across the state, our things-to-do guide keeps the rest.

Warm Mineral Springs in June: a two-day itinerary

Day one starts at 6:33 a.m. with the sunrise. In the water by seven, out by nine or ten while the air is still climbing toward its 90.0°F average high. Take lunch and the early afternoon indoors or in the car, because 2 to 5 p.m. is both the hottest stretch and the likeliest slot for the day’s rain. Come back around six: more than two hours of light remain, and the second swim of the day costs you nothing in sweat.

Day two repeats the morning and then goes somewhere else. Sarasota Bradenton is about 27 miles off and the Gulf beaches lie in the same direction, Siesta Key being the obvious candidate. If the sky turns, keep in mind what does not move: the spring reads 84.6°F wet or dry. The road and the waiting around are what change, so hold the swim early and let the indoor hour float. Only 2.4 days in an average June deliver an inch or more.

Warm Mineral Springs in June vs May and July

Measure May June July
Average high 87.5°F 90.0°F 91.1°F
Average low 68.2°F 73.6°F 75.2°F
Rainfall 2.58 in 7.05 in 7.39 in
Days with 0.10 in or more 3.8 9.0 10.7
Spring water Steady near 84.6°F Steady near 84.6°F Steady near 84.6°F

May to June is a 2.5-degree rise in the afternoon and a 5.4-degree rise at dawn, 87.5 to 90.0 and 68.2 to 73.6. Rain is where the month genuinely turns: 2.58 inches over 3.8 wet days in May against 7.05 inches over 9.0 in June, close to triple the water in the sky. July then adds almost nothing in heat (91.1°F) and a little more rain (7.39 inches over 10.7 days). The spring ignores all three and reads near 84.6°F throughout.

Shift back four weeks and you buy a dry sky: fewer than four wet days, afternoons at 87.5°F, and the whole month outside hurricane season. You pay for it with a 68.2°F dawn, at which 84.6°F water feels more like a bath than a swim. Shift forward four weeks and you hand over 1.7 extra wet days and a 75.2°F dawn in exchange for 1.1 degrees of additional afternoon heat, and that is a poor trade in anyone’s ledger.

Is June a good time to visit Warm Mineral Springs?

Yes for anyone whose day starts early and whose plans bend after lunch. The water is at its year-round 84.6°F, the dawn air is a swimmable 73.6°F, and the light runs to 8:26 p.m. No for anyone who needs a fixed outdoor afternoon: nine rain days and a 90.0°F average high will break that arrangement roughly one visit in three.

If the answer is no, take May instead. Identical water, 2.58 inches of rain rather than 7.05, 3.8 wet days rather than 9.0, and afternoons at 87.5°F, with the added comfort of sitting outside hurricane season altogether. Our May page has the detail.

What June alone offers is a 73.6°F dawn paired with 13 hours 53 minutes of daylight: enough room in one day for two swims, one at each end of the heat.

The last word

Decide the hour and June decides itself: in the water by seven, under a roof by two, back at the spring before the light goes at 8:26. One thing we could not close out, and it is worth knowing you are standing over a protected category of water: Florida law defines Outstanding Florida Springs in statute 373.802(5) as every historic first-magnitude spring, as the Florida Geological Survey determines them, plus six named by hand in the text. We could not confirm whether Warm Mineral Springs falls inside that list. The water reads 84.6°F either way.
