About The Travel Chronicle

The Travel Chronicle answers one question, properly: where should you go, and when? Not with adjectives: with the homework done. Every destination we cover gets the same treatment: thirty-year climate averages instead of “great weather,” official crowd data instead of “less touristy,” seasonal facts from the agencies that actually measure them, and a plain-spoken verdict about who a trip is for and who it isn’t.

What we believe

The month is half the destination. Lisbon in October and Lisbon in August are different trips. The Everglades in January and the Everglades in July are different planets. Most travel advice averages the year into mush; we treat the calendar as the main character.

Warmth and rigor aren’t opposites. We write to give you the feel of a place, and then we show the numbers that back it up. The poetry opens the page; the data holds it up.

Honesty is the product. The Atlantic off Lisbon is 66°F at its warmest, and we’ll tell you so. Mosquitoes in the summer Everglades are, in the park service’s own word, “profuse.” A guide that only sells you the postcard isn’t a guide — it’s an ad.

How the site works

Our guides are built on a documented sourcing method (climate reanalysis data, official tourism statistics, government advisories, park service records), described in full on our Methodology & Sources page. Time-sensitive facts (entry rules, fees, advisories) carry their verification dates inside each guide’s sources panel, and the official source always outranks us. Where a page includes an illustration rather than a photograph, the caption says so.

The Travel Chronicle is published by Korio, an independent European publisher, for travelers planning from the United States. We keep editorial and commercial matters separate: recommendations are never sold, and when pages carry affiliate links, they follow the verdict, never the reverse.

The desks

Our guides are signed by the desk that owns them: Travel Data (Claire D.), North America & Caribbean (Marcus R.), Europe (Ana S.), Asia (Priya K.), Itineraries & Mobility (Tom H.), and Entry Rules, Safety & Health (Dana W.), with collective pieces signed by the Team. Author images on this site are editorial illustrations.

Corrections

When we’re wrong, we fix it and say so. Spotted an error — a number, a rule, a closed trail? Write to us via the contact page; corrections are our fastest queue.
