GUADALAJARA · MEXICO · NOVEMBER
Guadalajara in November puts you outdoors from breakfast to dusk. Afternoons average 79.3°F and the month gathers only 0.44 inches of rain in total. Mornings and nights run cold by comparison, with a 49.5°F average low, so the day starts in a jacket and ends in one.
Anyone weighing a shift of a few weeks has two neighbors to compare. October still logs 6.7 days of measurable rain. December drops the average low to 45.5°F. November sits between them, with rain down to 2.1 days and lows 4.0 degrees above December’s, which suits a sightseeing-heavy vacation and a full itinerary.

Guadalajara weather in November
| Measure | November normal | What it means for a day |
|---|---|---|
| Average high | 79.3°F | Light clothes by mid-afternoon |
| Average low | 49.5°F | A jacket for early mornings and evenings |
| Day-night gap | 29.8 degrees | Layers that come off and go back on |
| Precipitation | 0.44 inches | A small total for the whole month |
| Rain days | 2.1 days | About two days need a rain plan |
| Daylight, November 15 | 11 h 11 min | Sunrise 7:02 a.m., sunset 6:13 p.m. |
Every figure here is a 1991-2020 official normal from Mexico’s national weather service, the Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (SMN, part of CONAGUA). They come from station 14065, the Guadalajara observatory in the city center, roughly a mile above sea level. That is a real thermometer in the historic core. The western suburbs toward Zapopan sit a little higher, so read the numbers as the center’s. November averages 79.3°F for the high and 49.5°F for the low.
SMN counts 2.1 days of measurable rain in an average November, and the month totals 0.44 inches. In practice, two days out of the month need a rain plan and the rest do not. SMN does not publish the threshold behind its count on the station sheet, so set it against US rain-day figures loosely.
The gap between the average high and the average low is 29.8 degrees. A light layer covers the early hours and the evening, short sleeves cover the afternoon, and a jacket that folds into a daypack handles the switch between them.
On November 15 the sun rises at 7:02 a.m. and sets at 6:13 p.m., 11 hours 11 minutes of daylight (sunrise-sunset.org times, converted from UTC to Mexico City time). Once the light goes, the temperature slides toward the 49.5°F low, so the jacket comes out before dinner.
How warm is Guadalajara in November?
Highs average 79.3°F and lows 49.5°F, both daily readings averaged over 1991-2020. Guadalajara sits inland, so there is no sea temperature to report, and these are air figures from the SMN observatory. Individual afternoons and nights land above and below the averages, and we read no record extremes.
Morning walks start near the low, so a sweater goes on first and comes off by lunch. Afternoons near 79.3°F suit a T-shirt and sunglasses. Dinner outdoors calls for the jacket again.
We found no count of frost nights in the normals we read, so we cannot say how many November nights touch freezing, or whether any do. The average low of 49.5°F sits well above that line, and December’s average low of 45.5°F shows the cold building. A trip in the last days of the month should pack for colder mornings.
How busy is Guadalajara in November? Crowds and prices
We found no occupancy series and no hotel-rate series for Guadalajara, so we place November in no price ranking and crown no month cheap or expensive. The weather steps down month by month (6.7 rain days in October, 2.1 in November, 1.4 in December), which is a reason to compare prices, not a measure of them. Price the same hotel and the same flight for all three months before you set a budget.
We have no booking-window data, so we give no number of weeks. The routine is free. Pick two or three central hotels near the cathedral and Plaza de Armas, quote them for your November dates, then quote the identical rooms for October and December. Flights into Guadalajara’s airport get the same treatment. General booking basics live in Travel 101.
We could not verify the lodging-tax rate for Guadalajara, so we give no percentage. Ask each hotel whether its quote includes taxes and any nightly charges before you confirm, since a rate with taxes and a rate without them cannot be compared.
The one line where paying more changes a November trip is location. With daylight ending at 6:13 p.m. and evenings sliding toward a 49.5°F low, a room within walking distance of the cathedral and the Plaza Tapatía saves cold rides back after dinner. We have no rate data to price that premium, so weigh it in the quotes you collect.
Things to do in Guadalajara in November

November’s 0.44 inches of rain and 2.1 rain days, against 6.7 rain days in October, keep the outdoor list open: the Plaza de Armas around the cathedral, the Plaza Tapatía walk to the Hospicio Cabañas, a day among the agave fields near Tequila, and Tonalá’s pottery and crafts market. That market runs on Thursdays and Sundays, so build the day around one of them.
The Hospicio Cabañas has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Manuel Tolsa designed it in the Neoclassical style, and the chapel holds José Clemente Orozco’s murals from the late 1930s. We did not verify its ticket price or opening hours. The Museo Regional de Guadalajara charges 210 pesos general admission and 105 pesos for Mexican nationals and foreign residents in Mexico. It opens Tuesday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The murals and the museum rooms are indoors and look the same in any month. What November changes is the walk between them: dry pavement, afternoons around 79.3°F and a cool start at the 9 a.m. museum opening, since the overnight low averages 49.5°F. October’s 6.7 rain days make that walk less predictable.
We did not verify which sites charge admission beyond the Museo Regional, so we publish no free list. Walking the Plaza de Armas costs nothing, and neither does browsing the Mercado San Juan de Dios, also called Mercado Libertad, a covered market with stalls for food, leather and crafts over several floors. Tlaquepaque, just south of central Guadalajara, adds pottery, blown glass and mariachi plazas.
Guadalajara itinerary for November
Day one of a long weekend stays in the center. Be at the Museo Regional de Guadalajara for its 9 a.m. opening (210 pesos, closed Mondays), then walk to the cathedral and Plaza de Armas, with the Teatro Degollado facing it. Follow the Plaza Tapatía to the Hospicio Cabañas for the Orozco murals in the afternoon, when the average high reaches 79.3°F, and check its hours first, since we did not verify them. Sunset is at 6:13 p.m., and the jacket goes back on for dinner.
Day two moves south and out. Tlaquepaque fills a morning with pottery, blown glass and mariachi plazas, and on a Thursday or Sunday you can continue to next-door Tonalá for its crafts market. Tequila, in the agave fields west of Guadalajara, replaces both if you would rather tour a distillery (we did not verify tour schedules or prices). If one of November’s 2.1 rain days lands on your plan, swap in the covered Mercado San Juan de Dios or the Museo Regional, Tuesday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Guadalajara in November vs October and December
| Measure | October | November | December |
|---|---|---|---|
| Average high | 81.7°F | 79.3°F | 77.0°F |
| Average low | 57.0°F | 49.5°F | 45.5°F |
| Precipitation | 2.20 inches | 0.44 inches | 0.30 inches |
| Rain days | 6.7 days | 2.1 days | 1.4 days |
Highs step down gently: 81.7°F in October, 79.3°F in November, 77.0°F in December, a drop of 2.4 degrees and then 2.3 degrees. Lows fall faster, from 57.0°F to 49.5°F (7.5 degrees) and then to 45.5°F (4.0 degrees). Rain collapses between the first two months. October’s 2.20 inches and 6.7 rain days become 0.44 inches and 2.1 days in November, and December trims that to 0.30 inches and 1.4 days. There is no sea to compare, since Guadalajara is inland.
Moving four weeks earlier gains afternoons 2.4 degrees warmer and nights 7.5 degrees milder, and costs 4.6 more rain days. Moving four weeks later loses 4.0 degrees on the low and 2.3 degrees on the high in return for a drier stretch. These are calendar-month averages, so late October and early December drift toward their neighbors.
Is November a good time to visit Guadalajara?
Yes for a trip built around walking, museums and markets: November holds rain to 2.1 days and afternoons near 79.3°F. Less so for anyone who wants warm evenings, since the average low is 49.5°F, and for anyone still weighing the Level 3 advisory for Jalisco.
If cold nights are the sticking point, October’s 57.0°F average low is 7.5 degrees milder, and the price is 6.7 rain days. If rain is the sticking point, December cuts it to 1.4 days and pushes the low to 45.5°F. We found no hotel-rate comparison for either swap. For a different destination in this month, see where to go by month.
November lands between the extremes of both neighbors: 0.44 inches of rain against 2.20 in October, and a 49.5°F low against December’s 45.5°F, with afternoons still at 79.3°F.
The last word
Start at the Museo Regional at 9 a.m., walk the Plaza Tapatía past the Rotonda de los Jaliscienses Ilustres to Orozco’s murals in the Hospicio Cabañas, and have dinner in a jacket once the light goes at 6:13 p.m. Price the same room for October and December before you commit, and check the Jalisco advisory the week you buy flights.
