Walk along Cable Beach at dusk and the three hotel towers of Baha Mar glow above the palms, with music drifting from the bars and people crossing the lobbies in beach sandals and evening clothes alike. It is the moment many travelers staying elsewhere in Nassau start wondering how much of the resort they can see without a room key. The short answer: the pools and the water park belong to hotel guests, while the dining, the casino and the events calendar make up the rest of what Baha Mar shows the world.

Can you visit Baha Mar without staying there?
Part of the resort is reserved for people who sleep there, and part of it is simply a place to go for dinner, a game or a concert. The line is clearest at the water: the six pools of the Grand Hyatt are exclusive to resort guests, and Baha Mar’s guests enjoy unlimited access to the Baha Bay water park. Everything else is described below for what it is, so you can judge what suits an afternoon or an evening.
Baha Mar sits on Cable Beach, on the island of New Providence, and its address is 1 Baha Mar Blvd. Cable Beach is the stretch of Nassau where large resorts line the sand, and Baha Mar anchors it. Seen from the road, the resort is less a single building than a small town of lobbies, terraces, restaurants and gardens.
What stays for guests
The six pools at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar are exclusive to resort guests, and that is the plain answer for anyone hoping to spend a day lounging beside them. The pools are the heart of the resort’s family and leisure side, so a visitor staying elsewhere should plan the pool part of the day on another beach or at another hotel.
Baha Bay works the same way. The water park occupies fifteen beachfront acres directly beside the resort, and resort guests have unlimited access to it. For a traveler who is not a guest, the water park is something you see from the outside rather than spend the day in, so a family planning a splash-filled day should weigh that before choosing a hotel on Cable Beach.
What the resort is built around
Baha Mar is a complex of 1,000 acres holding three hotels, the Grand Hyatt, SLS Baha Mar and the Rosewood, together with 2,200 rooms and 284 private residences. It opened in April 2017 and is owned by Hong Kong-based Chow Tai Fook Enterprises. The scale explains why so many different visitors come through: guests in rooms, owners in residences, golfers, gamblers, diners and event crowds.
The redevelopment that created it was announced in March 2010, broke ground in February 2011 and eventually cost around US$4 billion. The opening was first expected in March 2015, so the 2017 debut came after a long wait. Today the resort reads as one of the island’s major reasons to head to Cable Beach, with a large share of the Nassau evening scene gathered under one address.
Reaching the resort
The resort’s main phone line is (242) 788-1234, and the toll-free number is (800) 233-1234. These are the numbers listed for Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, which is the hotel where the resort’s main reception is based. The same Cable Beach address serves all three hotels, so a visitor arriving for dinner or an event is heading to one place on the map.
What do visitors have access to?
The resort puts forward a long list of places to eat and drink, a casino, a golf course, a racquet club, a spa and a busy events calendar, while the pools and the water park stay with the hotel guests. That list is what a traveler staying elsewhere on New Providence can look at when planning an evening on Cable Beach.
Restaurants, bars and lounges
Baha Mar counts more than thirty restaurants, bars and lounges across its three hotels. SLS Baha Mar alone has six restaurants and bars. With that many choices, an evening can run from a long dinner to a cocktail on a terrace, and a night out here needs no room upstairs to feel like a night out.
In Nassau, a good meal often includes conch in some form, whether cracked, fried or in a salad with lime, and a rum-based drink to go with it. Look for Bahamian touches on the menus, such as johnnycake, peas and rice or guava, alongside the international cooking a resort of this kind tends to serve.
The casino
The Baha Mar Casino on Cable Beach is described as the largest casino in the Caribbean, and at the Grand Hyatt it spreads over 100,000 square feet of gaming space. It also offers live sports betting by William Hill, which makes it a place to watch a game as well as play one. The room is lit all night, loud with slot machines and the quieter hush of the tables.
For a visitor, the casino is a cultural stop as much as a gambling one: people in dresses and linen shirts drift in after dinner, and a drink at the edge of the floor is a common way to spend an hour. It suits couples and groups who want an evening out without leaving the resort.
Golf, tennis and the spa
The golf course is an 18-hole, par-72 Jack Nicklaus Signature design, and the resort calls it a Tournament Players Club course. The Racquet Club has tennis courts in clay, hard and grass surfaces, and the Grand Hyatt counts nine tennis courts in all. These are the sports that bring visitors who care about the game rather than the beach.
ESPA Baha Mar is described as a sumptuous spa, with twenty-four treatment rooms at the Grand Hyatt. A spa afternoon is a classic rainy-day plan on a Nassau vacation, and it pairs naturally with a late lunch at one of the resort’s restaurants.
Events on the calendar
Baha Mar fills its autumn and winter with events that draw crowds from outside the hotel. A food festival opens the run, then come a high-stakes poker series, a tennis tournament and a New Year’s Eve concert. Each of them turns the resort into a public stage for a few days.
| Event | Dates |
|---|---|
| Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival | October 21 to 25 |
| WSOP Paradise | December 2 to 17, 2026 |
| Baha Mar Cup (tennis) | December 10 to 13 |
| New Year’s Eve 2026 celebration with Ludacris | New Year’s Eve |
The poker series carries $120 million in guarantees, which tells you the scale of the crowds it brings to the casino floor. The culinary festival, by contrast, is a chance to taste Bahamian and international cooking in one place, and the New Year’s Eve show with Ludacris gives the Cable Beach evening a headline act.
The family side of the Grand Hyatt
The Grand Hyatt has 1,800 rooms and suites and is the resort’s family tower, with a flamingo habitat, a faux blue hole and a Kids Club with resident sea turtles and sharks. Those features sit within the hotel, so they are part of the stay rather than a stop for outside visitors.
The SLS tower is smaller, with 299 rooms and suites, two dedicated pools and a fitness center, and it has the quieter, more style-minded feel. The Rosewood completes the trio. Knowing which tower you are walking into helps you read the mood of the lobby and the restaurants around it.
Good to know before you go
The U.S. State Department rates the Bahamas Level 2, “Exercise increased caution”, and says most crime occurs in Nassau on New Providence and in Freeport on Grand Bahama.
Baha Mar’s events fall in the stretch of the Atlantic hurricane season that runs from June 1 to November 30, so the culinary festival belongs to that window while the poker series, tennis and New Year’s Eve come after it. The resort lies on Cable Beach in Nassau, where the Bahamas’ tourist crowds and evening traffic gather, so a late dinner and a drink fit naturally into one outing. Plan the pool and water park days around where you are staying, and keep the casino, restaurants and events for the evening.
