FLORIDA · WARM MINERAL SPRINGS · OCTOBER
October is the month the air stops arguing with the water. The spring never changes: a USGS gauge at the vent read 84.6°F on September 11, 2026, and it reads near that every day of the year. Everything above the surface does change. Average highs ease to 86.3°F, nights land at 68.3°F, and rainfall drops to 2.76 inches after a September that pours 6.00.
What the month takes back is certainty. October still sits inside the Atlantic hurricane season, so the booking has to stay movable, and mornings that start at 68.3°F make a wet walk to the car cooler than a July visitor expects. For the spring outside of any single month, our year-round guide holds the ground facts, and the state calendar frames the wet and dry seasons.

THE MONTH AT A GLANCE · WARM MINERAL SPRINGS · OCTOBER
October hands you September’s water under cooler air and less than half of September’s rain, provided you keep the booking refundable and an eye on the tropics.

One caveat before the numbers below. The thermometer is not at the spring: every air figure comes from a NOAA station at Sarasota Bradenton airport, roughly 27 miles away. Only the water figure was measured at the vent itself, by the USGS.
Warm Mineral Springs weather in October: average highs, lows and rain days
| Measure | October |
|---|---|
| Average high | 86.3°F |
| Average low | 68.3°F |
| Precipitation | 2.76 in |
| Days with 0.10 in or more | 4.1 |
| Days with 1 in or more | 0.6 |
| Daylight on Oct 15 | 11h 33m |
| Spring water, Sept 11, 2026 | 84.6°F |
The air normals come from NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information, 1991-2020 monthly series, station USW00012871 at Sarasota Bradenton airport. That is a real thermometer at a real airport rather than a reanalysis grid cell, and it sits about 27 miles from the vent, closer to the Gulf than the spring is. October averages a high of 86.3°F, a low of 68.3°F and 2.76 inches of rain. All three describe the air. The water keeps its own section further down.
Measurable rain, at least 0.10 inch, falls on 4.1 days in an average October, about one day in seven. A real soaking of an inch or more turns up on 0.6 day, so a little over half of all Octobers get one of those. In a day that reads as a loud hour under cover and then a swim, rather than a washed-out week. September’s 8.3 wet days are the ones that rearrange a trip.
Eighteen degrees separate the average high from the average low, so one layer will not cover a day here. Dawn at 68.3°F, standing wet beside the water, calls for a hoodie you will resent by 11 a.m., when the count is climbing toward 86.3°F. Pack the hoodie anyway, a hat for the middle of the day, and a second towel: the first one will not dry between the morning swim and the evening one.
October 15 gives about 11 hours 33 minutes of daylight, with sunrise at 7:27 a.m. and sunset at 7:01 p.m. local time, per sunrise-sunset.org. That is late enough to finish a second swim and still drive out with light on the road, and it is the last month of the year that offers it. November’s afternoons end sooner.
How warm is Warm Mineral Springs in October?
October’s average high is 86.3°F and its average low 68.3°F, an 18-degree swing inside a single day. The spring sits between the two and stays there: 84.6°F on the USGS gauge, station 02299260, on September 11, 2026. Treat that as one instantaneous reading rather than a monthly average, because that is what it is. The gauge measured 8 cubic feet per second leaving the vent at the same moment.
At 7:30 a.m. the water runs roughly 16 degrees warmer than the air, so stepping in is the warm decision and standing out is the cold one. By mid-afternoon the order flips, with 86.3°F air over 84.6°F water, and the spring becomes the cooler side of the day by less than two degrees. Dress for a chilly walk in, swim early, and keep a dry shirt in the car for the drive back.
We hold no count of nights at or below freezing, and October is not the month to go looking for one: the average low of 68.3°F sits 36 degrees above 32°F. If a cold snap matters to your plans, it belongs to the winter months, not this one.
How busy is Warm Mineral Springs in October? Crowds and prices
Florida’s dry season opens in November, and October sits in the back half of the wet one. Beyond that calendar we have nothing on demand: no occupancy series and no monthly room rates for Sarasota County, so we crown no month busy and no month quiet. We also could not read the spring’s own fee or opening hour, because floridastateparks.org returned a 403 to our automated reads on September 11, 2026. Call before you drive.
Book refundable. October falls inside the Atlantic hurricane season, and a rate you cannot move is the wrong rate in this window. How many weeks ahead the nearby rooms fill, we cannot tell you, because we found no data on it. What we can give you is the geography: fly into Sarasota Bradenton (SRQ), the same airport whose thermometer supplies these normals, and you are about 27 miles from the vent. Two nights covers the trip comfortably.
We could not verify the Sarasota County lodging-tax rate, so we give no percentage. Read the full nightly total on the booking page, taxes and fees included, before you agree to anything. Our Florida cost guide lays out the layers a Florida room bill tends to carry.
Rent the car. No rail reaches the spring and we could not verify a shuttle to it, so the rental decides whether you swim in the first hour of daylight or at 2 p.m. under 86.3°F air. That is the one line of the budget October really moves, and our getting-around guide handles the tolls that come with it.
Things to do in Warm Mineral Springs in October

October lets both halves of the day work outdoors. September asks you to distribute 6.00 inches of rain across 8.3 wet days and gives 90.2°F afternoons to do it in. November starts its mornings at 60.1°F, a genuinely cold walk from the water to the car. October holds 86.3°F afternoons, 68.3°F dawns and 4.1 wet days, so a full day outside is the plan rather than the gamble.
Start with the spring itself. The USGS gauge puts 8 cubic feet per second through the vent, and that volume is why the water stays clear: it is replaced faster than it can cloud. We carry no surface area, no boardwalk length and no parking count from an official source, so we publish none of them. For sand on the same trip, Siesta Key is the county’s headline beach, an easy second act on a two-night visit.
The spring holds its temperature all year. The air around it does not, and that moving gap is what October sells. Sixteen degrees in your favor at 7:30 a.m., under two degrees against you at 3 p.m., in the same 84.6°F water. No other variable at this site changes with the calendar.
What is free in October, we cannot tell you: no fee schedule, no free-entry day and no manatee count came back from the official sources we tried, and myfwc.com renders its wildlife pages client-side. What comes free regardless is the light, 11 hours 33 minutes of it on October 15, with the sun down at 7:01 p.m.
Warm Mineral Springs in October: a two-day itinerary
Day one runs off the 7:27 a.m. sunrise. Be dressed and moving by 7, in the water in the first hour, when 68.3°F air makes 84.6°F water feel like a bath (call ahead for the opening hour, since we could not verify it). Out by 10, dry clothes, then a long indoor lunch through the 86.3°F middle of the day. Back in the water around 4, and you still have light on the road until 7:01 p.m.
Day two goes to the Gulf: beach in the morning, spring again late in the afternoon. If the sky turns, the shape of October rain is worth knowing. Only 0.6 day in the month brings an inch or more, so the usual event is one heavy hour. Move indoors in Sarasota, then take the swim on the back side of the storm, when the air has dropped several degrees and the water has not moved at all.
Warm Mineral Springs in October vs September and November
| Measure | September | October | November |
|---|---|---|---|
| Average high | 90.2°F | 86.3°F | 80.0°F |
| Average low | 74.1°F | 68.3°F | 60.1°F |
| Precipitation | 6.00 in | 2.76 in | 1.81 in |
| Days with 0.10 in or more | 8.3 | 4.1 | 2.5 |
| Spring water | No seasonal swing | 84.6°F (Sept 11, 2026) | No seasonal swing |
September runs 3.9°F hotter by day, 5.8°F warmer at night and more than twice as wet: 6.00 inches against 2.76, and 8.3 wet days against 4.1. November goes the other way, with 80.0°F days, 60.1°F nights and 1.81 inches spread over 2.5 wet days. Across all three, the water reads the same. All air figures share one NOAA station and one 1991-2020 period, so the comparison is like for like.
Shift four weeks earlier and you buy warmer nights, 74.1°F instead of 68.3°F, at the price of double the wet days and a month that sits deeper in the hurricane season (see our September page). Shift four weeks later and November is the driest of the three, 1.81 inches, but the morning walk from the water to the car happens at 60.1°F, 8.2 degrees colder than October’s.
Is October a good time to visit Warm Mineral Springs?
Yes, for anyone who wants to swim outdoors in Florida without a cold shock at either end of the dip, and who can be at the water by 8 a.m. Four wet days out of 31, 86.3°F afternoons and 84.6°F water make an easy pair of days. No, for a traveler who cannot move dates: October sits inside the hurricane season, and a non-refundable week here is the wrong kind of bet.
If that rules it out, take November. Days at 80.0°F, 1.81 inches of rain over 2.5 wet days, the storm risk behind you, and the same water waiting. You pay for it at dawn, when the air reads 60.1°F and the walk back to the car gets a lot less pleasant than it is in October.
Of the three months around it, only October puts 16 degrees between the dawn air and the water and then closes that gap to under two by mid-afternoon, in one day.
The last word
The decision October asks of you is small: take the morning, skip the afternoon arrival. Book something refundable within a short drive, set the alarm for the 7:27 a.m. sunrise, and be in 84.6°F water while the air is still at 68. One more fact for the drive: Florida Statutes 373.802(5) protects a category called Outstanding Florida Springs, meaning every historic first-magnitude spring the Florida Geological Survey names plus six written into the law by hand. We did not find this spring on that list, so we make no claim for it. The gauge keeps reading anyway, 8 cubic feet every second, all year.
