Belize All-Inclusive Resorts: Thatch Caye, Hamanasi, What’s Included and Where They Are

Dinner on a private island is served at one shared table, with ingredients that came over the water by boat that morning. Down the coast, kayaks slide off a beach where the Maya Mountains rise behind the palms. Belize’s all-inclusive stays are built around moments like these, on a caye off the coast of Dangriga and on the shoreline south of Hopkins.

What all-inclusive resorts are there in Belize?

Two properties anchor the all-inclusive picture here: Thatch Caye Resort, a private island resort, and Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort, on the beach south of Hopkins village. They are very different places, and the package at each one reflects that. One is a small island where the whole stay happens within a few steps of the water. The other is a beachfront property with a rainforest preserve behind it.

The Belize Hotel Association, whose members include resorts, hotels and lodges in beach, jungle, island and mountain settings, publishes an Official Accommodation Guide for planning a Belize vacation. It also advises travelers to book directly for the best rates.

Thatch Caye Resort

Thatch Caye is a private island, and it keeps itself small: it accommodates only 30 guests at any given time. That number shapes everything about a stay. There is no crowd at the dock, no line at the kayaks, and the evening meal is a shared affair rather than a table for two in a busy dining room.

Accommodation includes overwater bungalows with Caribbean ocean views, so the first thing you see in the morning is open sea. The Coco Lounge adds a TV, gourmet coffee and high-speed WiFi, for the moments when you want to sit in the shade with a cup and catch up on the world.

Divers will find an on-site 5-Star PADI Dive Operation. The resort received TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Best of Best Award in 2025.

This is an island for people who want to be outdoors, on the water or beside it, and who like the idea of meals shared with other guests.

Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort

Hamanasi sits on 45 acres of beachfront property with a private nature preserve, between the Maya Mountains and the Caribbean Sea. The grounds are divided into four eco zones: Beachfront, Littoral Forest, Pond and Savannah, plus gardens. Walking from the beach to the savannah, the landscape changes more than you would expect on one property.

The Great House holds the lobby, reception, gift shop, restaurant, library and bar, and guests can climb to the Lookout on top of it for panoramic views of the Caribbean and the Maya Mountains. A saltwater infinity pool and beach chairs, hammocks and towels fill the slower hours. The name of the resort tells you the rest: it is an adventure and dive resort, and its packages are built around reef and rainforest.

Hamanasi suits travelers who want to pair days on the water with days inland, and who like having both on the same property rather than choosing one.

What does all-inclusive mean here?

It means different things at each resort, so the package itself is worth reading closely. At Thatch Caye, the all-inclusive package covers roundtrip boat transfers to and from Dangriga Airport and the Marine Reserve Access Fee. It also gives guests exclusive use of kayaks, paddleboards, snorkel gear and other island toys. On a private island, that bundle takes care of the getting there, the reef access and the gear in one step.

Meals at Thatch Caye follow the island’s own logic. There is no traditional restaurant. Dining is farm-to-table and shared, served in an intimate, communal setting, and the ingredients arrive by boat because the resort is a private island. Expect a table where you talk with the people next to you rather than a menu you scan alone.

Hamanasi’s Reef & Rainforest Packages

Hamanasi’s signature Reef & Rainforest Packages are flexible. They are customized to guests’ interests and length of stay, and they allow stays in any room type. That makes them the starting point for most travelers who want to shape their own mix of water and jungle days, rather than follow a set script.

Around the packages, the resort puts a few things in guests’ hands: kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and bicycles to explore the area around the resort, plus beach chairs, hammocks and beach towels. Hamanasi’s reservation staff at the resort assist with booking requests 365 days per year, so planning does not have to wait for a particular season.

Curated packages for occasions and interests

Alongside the flexible packages, Hamanasi offers Curated Packages that are specially built around certain interests. They may have a fixed length or limits on room type, which is the trade-off for a plan that is already assembled. The list includes a Belize Dive Explorer Package, an Extreme Adventure Package and a Hamanasi Birthday Package.

Romantic occasions have their own packages as well: a Honeymoon & Seaside Romance Package, and a Tropical Dreams Wedding Package for small destination weddings. The wedding package requires separate accommodation, so it is arranged apart from the room stay.

Where are they?

One is on a private island and the other is on the mainland coast, south of Hopkins village. Thatch Caye Resort is a private island resort in Belize, reached by the roundtrip boat transfer from Dangriga Airport that its package includes. Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort is located on the beach south of Hopkins village.

Thatch Caye: a private island

Being on a private island means the setting is the whole experience. Everything the resort offers sits within the island: the overwater bungalows, the Coco Lounge, the dive operation and the shared meals. Because ingredients come by boat, the kitchen is tied to the sea crossing in a way a mainland resort never is.

The boat is also your way in and out. With the roundtrip transfer to and from Dangriga Airport included in the package, the crossing is part of the stay rather than a separate errand. Kayaks, paddleboards and snorkel gear are for the exclusive use of guests, which on an island that holds only 30 people means the water in front of you is largely your own.

Hamanasi: between mountains and sea

Hamanasi is on the beach south of Hopkins village, and the resort describes itself as nestled between the Maya Mountains and the Caribbean Sea. From the Lookout on top of the Great House you can take in both at once. Behind the beach, the private nature preserve and the four eco zones give the property a feel closer to a small reserve than a hotel lot.

Member properties of the Belize Hotel Association are described as sitting in beach, jungle, island and mountain settings, and activities offered through them include visits to ancient Mayan cities, jungles, cave tubing and reefs. Hamanasi puts the jungle and the reef side by side on one property, while Thatch Caye keeps its attention on the island and the water around it.

Good to know before you go

The U.S. State Department rates Belize Level 2, “Exercise increased caution”, because of crime, and says the south side of Belize City has historically had the highest concentration of violent crime.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, so a stay in those months falls within it. Because the Belize Hotel Association advises booking directly for the best rates, it makes sense to ask each resort what its all-inclusive package covers and what it leaves out.
