SLS Baha Mar: Rooms, Pools, Baha Bay Water Park and Where It Sits on Cable Beach

Walk down the beach at Cable Beach in the late afternoon and you pass a long line of balconies, towels drying on the rails and the sound of a water park somewhere behind the palms. One of those towers belongs to SLS Baha Mar, a 297-room hotel in Nassau with its own pools, its own beach club and a style set apart from its two neighbors. It suits travelers who want a design-minded base on New Providence with a big resort complex at the door.

What is SLS Baha Mar?

SLS Baha Mar is one of the three hotels of the Baha Mar resort on Cable Beach in Nassau, on the island of New Providence, and it is the first SLS resort in the Caribbean. The hotel holds 297 rooms, and 107 of them are suites and residences with floor-to-ceiling windows. Many rooms look out over Cable Beach from generously sized balconies, so the view of the water is part of the stay and not a bonus reserved for the top floors.

The brand is what separates it from the others under the Baha Mar umbrella. The Grand Hyatt and the Rosewood share the same grounds, and SLS plays the role of the sleek, social option: a place where you drift from room to pool to dinner without leaving the property. Rooms with those tall windows fill with light in the morning, and the balconies are the spot for a coffee before the day starts.

The rooms, suites and residences

Of the 297 rooms, 107 are suites and residences, which makes them a large share of the hotel. Floor-to-ceiling windows are the common thread, and they change how a room feels: the sea and the sky come inside, and a stay of a few days in Nassau never feels closed in. A balcony facing Cable Beach is the room to ask for when the view matters most.

Residences suit families and groups who want more space than a standard room, and the suites suit couples who plan to spend real time indoors between pool sessions. Not every room faces the beach, so the phrase to remember is many rooms, not all.

A resort with a story

Baha Mar grew out of a 2010 agreement between a Bahamas-based investor and the government to redevelop the resort and revitalize Cable Beach, the most popular beachfront destination on New Providence. Groundbreaking came in February 2011, and the opening, first expected in March 2015, took place in April 2017. The project eventually cost around US$4 billion.

Today the complex belongs to Hong Kong-based Chow Tai Fook Enterprises. SLS sits among its three hotels, which together hold 2,200 rooms, alongside 284 private residences on the 1,000-acre property.

What is on site?

On site you find two dedicated SLS pools, a beach club, private cabanas, a 12,000-square-foot meeting space and the doors to everything else at Baha Mar, from Baha Bay to the casino. The pools and the beach club each offer private cabanas that can be reserved online, which turns a pool day into something closer to a private lounge with shade and a place to leave your things.

Pools, beach club and cabanas

The two SLS pools and the beach club are the social center of the hotel. Mornings tend to be slow, with people reading by the water, and the mood builds through the afternoon. A cabana is a base for the day: you settle in, order from the nearby bar and move between water and shade as the sun shifts.

The beach club puts you on Cable Beach itself, the stretch of sand the whole resort is built around. It is the place for a walk at the edge of the surf at sunset, when the towers turn gold and the beach loosens up.

Baha Bay water park

Guests of SLS Baha Mar have unlimited access to Baha Bay, a 15-acre water park set on the beachfront right next to the resort. For anyone traveling with children, or with adults who still like a slide, it adds a full day of activity that needs no outside transportation. Because access is unlimited for resort guests, you can drop in for an hour in the morning and come back after lunch.

Dining, casino and golf

Across the Baha Mar resort, which includes SLS, there are more than 45 restaurants, bars and lounges. That range lets you eat somewhere different each night of a week without repeating, and without leaving the grounds. The Baha Mar Casino on Cable Beach also offers live sports betting by William Hill, for those who like a game on the screen with their evening.

Golfers have a Tournament Players Club course designed by Jack Nicklaus on the Baha Mar property. The meeting space at SLS, at 12,000 square feet, serves groups who combine work with a few days by the sea.

Events on the Baha Mar calendar

The resort hosts events that can shape a stay. The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival takes place at Baha Mar from October 21st to 25th, and the Baha Mar Cup tennis event runs from December 10th to 13th. WSOP Paradise, the poker series, is held from December 2 to 17, 2026, with $120 million in guarantees.

For New Year’s Eve 2026, Baha Mar will host a celebration with a live performance by Ludacris. Anyone choosing dates around these events should expect the resort to have a different feel on those days, busier and more social.

How does it fit within Baha Mar?

SLS is one of three hotels in Baha Mar, next to the Grand Hyatt and the Rosewood, and staying there opens the whole resort to you: the beach, the water park, the restaurants and the casino. Baha Mar is a 1,000-acre complex on Cable Beach in Nassau, on New Providence, so SLS is one address inside a very large property and not a standalone hotel.

Three hotels, three personalities

The Grand Hyatt, SLS and the Rosewood together account for 2,200 rooms. SLS, with 297 of them, is the smallest-feeling by count of the trio in this comparison of its own numbers, which gives it a more contained atmosphere within a very large complex. Choosing among the three is mostly a question of style, and SLS leans toward the design-driven, lively end.

Because everything is shared, the choice of hotel does not close doors. A guest at SLS still has unlimited access to Baha Bay, as resort guests at Baha Mar do, and the dining and casino options belong to the whole property.

Cable Beach as the setting

Cable Beach is the most popular beachfront destination on New Providence, and Baha Mar was conceived to revitalize it. The setting means you are on the island’s busiest resort strip, in Nassau, with the sea on one side and the resort grounds on the other. Balconies facing the beach make the most of that position.

Planning a stay around the grounds

A good rhythm is a slow morning at the SLS pool or on the balcony, an afternoon at Baha Bay, and an evening choosing among the many restaurants and bars. Golf at the Nicklaus-designed course fills another day. With more than 45 places to eat and drink across the resort, dinner can change every night. A trip in late October can line up with the Culinary & Arts Festival, and one in December with the tennis, the poker series or the run-up to New Year’s Eve.

Good to know before you go

The U.S. State Department rates the Bahamas Level 2, “Exercise increased caution”, and says most crime occurs in Nassau on New Providence and in Freeport on Grand Bahama.

Baha Mar sits in Nassau, on New Providence, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, which covers an October stay. Private cabanas at the SLS pools and beach club can be reserved online, so that part of the day can be arranged before you arrive. Within the complex, the casino, the water park and the restaurants are all on the same grounds, which keeps most plans within walking range of your room.
