Walk down Baha Mar Boulevard in the evening and you hear the casino floor, clinking glasses from the restaurant terraces and the steady hum of the pools winding down for the night. Baha Mar is a large resort complex on Cable Beach in Nassau, made up of three hotels that share restaurants, pools, a water park and a golf course. It suits travelers who want a whole vacation inside one property, and those who simply want to know what is on offer along this stretch of New Providence.

What is Baha Mar?
Baha Mar is a 1,000-acre resort complex on Cable Beach, on the island of New Providence, that brings together three hotels, a casino, a golf course, a water park and dozens of places to eat and drink. It opened in April 2017, and it is owned by Hong Kong-based Chow Tai Fook Enterprises.
The project took years to build. An agreement on the redevelopment was announced in March 2010 to help revitalize Cable Beach, and groundbreaking followed in February 2011. The opening had first been expected in March 2015, and the whole project eventually cost around US$4 billion. The Grand Hyatt was the first hotel to open, the SLS followed in November 2017, and the Rosewood joined in June 2018.
A resort that works like a small town
What you notice first is the scale. The resort includes 284 private residences alongside the hotels, and guests of any of the three hotels can use much of what the others offer. That means a Rosewood guest can have dinner at a restaurant in another hotel, play golf, visit the spa or spend an afternoon at the water park without leaving the property.
The resort counts more than 45 restaurants, bars and lounges across the property, which is why many visitors treat it as a place to stay put for several days. The casino is described as the largest in the Caribbean, and it also offers live sports betting by William Hill.
The setting on Cable Beach
Cable Beach is the most popular beachfront destination on New Providence, and Baha Mar sits in the middle of it. The name goes back to an 1892 submarine telegraph cable that linked Jupiter, Florida to Goodman’s Bay. Tourism came early here, with hotels in the 1950s, and in the late 1980s the area was promoted as the Bahamian Riviera. Baha Mar is the latest chapter of that long story.
Which hotels are at Baha Mar?
Baha Mar has three hotels, the Grand Hyatt, the SLS and the Rosewood, with a combined total of 2,200 rooms. Each has its own personality, and the choice mostly comes down to whether you want a lively family base, a stylish beachfront address or a quieter luxury retreat.
Grand Hyatt Baha Mar
The Grand Hyatt is the biggest of the three, with 1,800 guest rooms, 230 of them suites, many with spacious balconies. It is designed for families, friends or a romantic getaway. Six tropical pools are surrounded by private cabanas that can be reserved online, and there are nine tennis courts and an ESPA spa with 24 treatment rooms.
Children get a lot of attention here. The hotel has a flamingo habitat, a faux blue hole and a Kids Club with resident sea turtles and sharks. The Reserve at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar is the top tier, with upgraded amenities and dedicated concierge and butler services. A 200,000 square-foot indoor and outdoor convention facility means you may also share the lobby with a conference group.
SLS Baha Mar
The SLS is the first SLS resort in the Caribbean, and it is a much smaller, more boutique-style hotel than the Grand Hyatt. It has 297 rooms, including 107 suites and residences with floor-to-ceiling windows, and many rooms look out over Cable Beach from generously sized balconies.
Two dedicated SLS pools and a beach club each offer private cabanas that can be reserved online. The hotel has six restaurants and bars of its own and a fitness center, plus a 12,000 square-foot meeting space for groups.
Rosewood Baha Mar
Rosewood is the most intimate of the three, with 221 rooms, suites and villas. Two resort pools are reserved for Rosewood guests, and the hotel has its own spa and salon, called Sense, A Rosewood Spa and Salon. Butler service comes with the villas and with One Bedroom Suites and higher.
It also has more than 14,200 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, which suits weddings and small gatherings. Like guests of the other two hotels, Rosewood guests have unlimited access to Baha Bay and the wider resort.
What is there to do at Baha Mar?
At Baha Mar you can spend days on water slides, golf, tennis, spa treatments, restaurants and the casino without leaving the grounds. Guests of all three hotels share most of it, so the question is less what is available and more how to order the days.
Baha Bay water park and the pools
Baha Bay is a water park on 15 beachfront acres directly beside the resort, and resort guests have unlimited access to it. It is the obvious family day, and it pairs well with a slower afternoon at one of the hotel pools, where cabanas can be reserved online.
Younger children also have the Kid’s Explorers Club, and the Grand Hyatt’s flamingo habitat and Kids Club with sea turtles and sharks make a calmer break between slides. The Sanctuary is another resort amenity open to hotel guests.
Golf, tennis and miniature golf
Baha Mar has an 18-hole Tournament Players Club golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, a Nicklaus Signature course that anchors the sporting side of the resort. There is also a Racquet Club with pickleball, and Mini Blue, a miniature golf course that suits the whole family after dinner.
Tennis has a calendar of its own. The Baha Mar Cup takes place at the resort from December 10th to 13th.
Casino, dining and spa
The Baha Mar Casino on Cable Beach has live sports betting by William Hill. With more than 30 restaurants, bars and lounges counted at the resort itself, and more than 45 counted across the wider property, dinner can be a different place each night of a week-long stay. For quiet time, the ESPA full-service spa serves the resort, while Rosewood guests also have Sense, A Rosewood Spa and Salon.
Events at the resort
The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival takes place at Baha Mar from October 21st to 25th, a good reason to arrive hungry. WSOP Paradise, a poker series with $120 million in guarantees, runs at the resort from December 2 to 17, 2026. Baha Mar will also host a New Year’s Eve 2026 celebration featuring a live performance by Ludacris.
Where is Baha Mar?
Baha Mar sits on Cable Beach, on the northern coast of New Providence island, west of the city of Nassau. Its address is 1 Baha Mar Blvd.
Cable Beach, the neighborhood
Cable Beach stretches two and a half miles along the northern coast, and Baha Mar occupies a big share of it. Other resorts and hotels share the strip, among them Goldwynn Resort and Residences, Breezes, Casuarinas, Marley Resort and Spa, Meliá Nassau Beach, Ocean West Boutique Hotel, Sandals Royal Bahamian and Westwind Club.
Pompey Market is also found on Cable Beach, a reminder that the area has more to it than resort gates. Looking back, the Emerald Beach Hotel opened here in 1954 as the first air-conditioned hotel in the Bahamas, and Howard Johnson’s first venture outside the United States opened on Cable Beach in 1958.
Nassau and New Providence
Nassau is a city on the island of New Providence, and Baha Mar is part of the Nassau area rather than on a separate island. That sets it apart from Paradise Island, which is a different island with its own resorts. Everything described here, from the water park to the golf course, belongs to New Providence.
Good to know before you go
The U.S. State Department rates the Bahamas Level 2, “Exercise increased caution”, and says most crime occurs in Nassau on New Providence and in Freeport on Grand Bahama.
Baha Mar is a place where most of the vacation can be spent inside the resort, with dining, pools and the casino all in one spot. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, so the festival in late October falls within it, and it is worth keeping an eye on the forecast if you travel then. The Bahamian dollar is the local currency.
