Somewhere on Nassau’s waterfront, a family steps off a cruise ship, looks across the harbor at the pink towers on Paradise Island, and wonders whether a room is the only way in. It is not. Atlantis sells day passes to travelers staying elsewhere, and the pass opens the water park, the marine habitat and the beaches for a day on Paradise Island.

Can you visit Atlantis without staying there?
Yes, Atlantis Paradise Island sells day passes to visitors who sleep somewhere else, and in fact the pass is required for every non-resort guest who wants to use the attractions. It is bought ahead of time, not at the gate on a whim, so the day starts with a screen and not a line. That one detail shapes how you plan a Nassau day, whether you arrive from a hotel on Cable Beach or from a ship at the cruise port.
What the pass opens is the heart of the resort: the Aquaventure water park, Dolphin Cay, the marine habitat, the pools and the beaches. Guests of the resort get the same park through the daily resort fee, so on a busy day you share the slides and the lazy river with people in bathrobes and people in cruise lanyards alike.
Who needs a pass, and how ages are counted
Anyone not registered as a guest at Atlantis needs one. Pricing is divided by age. Adults are counted from 13 years old, children run from 4 to 12, and the youngest travelers, those under 3, are free. A family with a teenager therefore buys an adult pass for that teenager, which is worth knowing before you promise a child-rate day to everyone in the group.
Guests staying at one of the resort towers do not buy a pass at all, because water park access is folded into their daily resort fee along with the marine habitat, The Dig and the Predator Tunnel. That is why the pass is described as a visitor product: it exists for people who sleep on the other side of the bridge, in Nassau, on Cable Beach or on a ship.
Booking the pass online
Passes for non-resort guests, covering the water park, Dolphin Cay, the marine habitat, the pools and the beaches, can be booked online. Because the requirement is to purchase in advance, treat the booking as the first step of the day and not something to sort out in the taxi.
A confirmed booking is not the same as a wristband on your arm. The wristband is what gets you through the park, and it is collected in person on Paradise Island, which is the next step.
Collecting your wristband
Wristbands are picked up at the Atlantis Adventures Desks or the Ticket Center. Check-in for day passes runs daily at the Atlantis Adventures Tour Center, and since it closes in the afternoon, a late arrival is a way to lose the day. Aim to be there in the morning, when the park is also opening and the grounds are at their calmest.
| Where | Open |
|---|---|
| Day pass check-in, Atlantis Adventures Tour Center | Daily, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM |
Everyone in the party collects a band, and the whole group moves through the process together, so it helps to go as one party and not to send one person ahead for the rest.
What does a day pass include?
A day pass covers the Aquaventure water park, Dolphin Cay, the marine habitat, the pools and the beaches on Paradise Island. That is a full day of water, animals and sand under one wristband, set on a resort that spreads over 154 acres of an ocean-themed estate.
Aquaventure and its big rides
Aquaventure is a large park built around theming, with attractions you do not usually find in a local water park. Two features anchor it: The Current, a cross between a lazy river and a raft ride that carries you around the grounds, and the slide tower styled as a temple, which you spot from far off. Beyond those two, the park has water slides and other rides, laid out along a stretch of white sand that the resort puts at five miles of beaches, where the sea is usually calm and clear but conditions change.
The theming is part of the pleasure. Rides disappear into carved stone, rafts drift past rock walls, and the whole place feels more like an adventure set than a row of slides. Families with teenagers tend to head for the tower first, while younger children are more likely to settle into the river and the pools.
| Attraction | Season | Open |
|---|---|---|
| Aquaventure water park | March 9th through September | Daily, 10 AM to 7 PM |
| Aquaventure water park | November through February | Daily, 10 AM to 5 PM |
| Pools and cabanas | April through September | Daily, 9 AM to 7 PM |
The seasonal hours tell you how long the park itself stays open on the day you pick. In the months with the shorter schedule, the afternoon has less room, so spend the best hours on the rides and leave the slow stretch of sand for the end.
Dolphin Cay and the marine habitat
The marine habitat houses over 65,000 aquatic animals from 250 species, among them dolphins, sharks, sawfish and stingrays. Walking through it is the quiet counterpart to the noise of the water park: tunnels and viewing windows, with fish moving past in the half-light. It is a good choice for the middle of the day, when the sun is high and a few indoor-feeling corridors are welcome.
Dolphin Cay is described as a marine conservation and education center, where visitors can interact with dolphins in a controlled environment. The pass includes access to Dolphin Cay as a place to visit and learn about the animals.
Pools, cabanas and the beach
The pools and cabanas keep their own schedule, opening an hour before the water park in the months when both run on the summer schedule. For a traveler who wants a slower day, this is the plan: a lounge chair, a drink, a long look at the towers, and a walk to the sand when the heat eases.
The beaches belong to the pass too. Paradise Island sits just off Nassau, and the stretch of sand at the resort gives a day visit a rhythm that a pure water park would not: rides in the morning, animals at noon, sand in the late afternoon.
What are the rules for day visitors?
The rules are few and they come down to three things: buy the pass in advance, collect your wristband at the right desk, and mind your locker key. Everything else follows the rhythm of the resort.
Advance purchase and wristbands
A pass bought ahead is required for all non-resort guests, so showing up without one means missing the day. The wristband is picked up at the Atlantis Adventures Desks or Ticket Center, and it is what separates a day visitor from a hotel guest once you are inside.
Day visitors are counted by age at the desk: 13 and over are adults, ages 4 to 12 are children, and those under 3 are free. If your group includes a thirteen-year-old, expect the adult category for that traveler.
Lockers and the key fee
Day visitors store their belongings in rented lockers at the Day Visitor Centre, behind the temple structure. A locker spares you from carrying a bag onto a water slide, and it is the sensible place for phones, wallets and dry clothes.
| Site | Open |
|---|---|
| Lockers, Day Visitor Centre | Until 6:30 PM |
The key is the one thing to guard. A $50 fee applies for an unreturned locker key, payable by room charge or credit card only. Because day visitors have no room, that means a card, so hand the key back on your way out and the fee never comes up.
Planning the day around the hours
Three clocks run at once: check-in until late afternoon, the water park closing earlier in winter than in summer, and lockers staying available into the evening. The practical order is to arrive in the morning, pick up the wristband, store your things, and head to the rides while the park is fresh.
If you want to eat at a resort restaurant in the evening, note that dining reservations at Atlantis can be made 90 days or less before arrival, subject to availability. That window is for the resort’s restaurants in general, and it is separate from the pass itself.
Good to know before you go
The U.S. State Department rates the Bahamas Level 2, “Exercise increased caution”, and says most crime occurs in Nassau on New Providence and in Freeport on Grand Bahama.
Atlantis sits on Paradise Island, part of Nassau, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, so a late-year visit falls inside it and the weather can turn from sun to a heavy downpour in an afternoon. The locker key fee is charged to a card, so carry one with you. The rest of the day is simple: a wristband, a locker, a morning start and a long afternoon between the slides and the sand.
