Is December a good time to visit Rosarito?

Yes if the plan is walking the oceanfront, eating in town and seeing Baja Studios. Less so if the plan is swimming or lying on the sand. A 60.1°F sea and a 68.7°F high do not make a beach week.

Anyone who answers no should look at November instead: a 74.7°F afternoon high, 3.8 rain days and a sea at 61.8°F. Even then the water is a wading temperature, so November buys comfort on the sand more than swimming.

Read the U.S. Department of State’s Mexico advisory before booking. Reissued May 29, 2026, it puts Baja California at Level 3, reconsider travel, citing terrorism, crime and kidnapping. It places the high homicide numbers in non-tourist areas of Tijuana and lists the only travel restrictions in the state in Mexicali Valley.
