Rosarito weather in April

Every air figure here comes from the Servicio Meteorologico Nacional’s 1991-2020 normals for station 02038 at Presa Rodriguez, an inland reservoir near Tijuana, about 9 miles from the coast at 120 meters. It is the nearest official station, not a thermometer on Rosarito’s beach, which likely runs milder with more coastal fog. Read the 74.3°F highs, 51.3°F lows and 0.66 inches of precipitation as a close inland reading of the shoreline.

The same station counts 4.3 days of measurable rain in an average April, about one day in seven. The station sheet does not publish its threshold for “measurable,” so the count may not match US-style tallies. Rosarito’s main beach runs along the town’s oceanfront and is the principal draw, with the fishing village of Popotla nearby. Baja Studios sits on the coast: 20th Century Fox built it in 1997 as Fox Studios Baja for the filming of Titanic, a production announced in 1996. We could not verify visiting hours or admission for the studio, Popotla or any other stop, so we quote none.

April on the coast is defined by the gap between air and water: 74.3°F highs against a 59.4°F sea, a difference of 14.9 degrees. In March the sea was 59.3°F and the highs 71.1°F, so the afternoons warm while the water barely moves.

Day two starts at Popotla, the fishing village near town, then takes the Scenic Highway toward Tijuana or Ensenada for the rest of the day. If a shower turns up (4.3 days of measurable rain in an average April), swap the order and drive once the sky clears.

Rosarito in April vs March and May

From March to April the highs gain 3.2 degrees and measurable rain drops from 6.4 days to 4.3, while the sea barely moves, from 59.3°F to 59.4°F. From April to May the highs gain another 2.2 degrees, the lows jump 4.3 degrees, rain falls to 2.2 days and the sea warms by 3.1 degrees.

Moving four weeks later to May buys a 62.5°F sea, 55.6°F nights and about half April’s rain days. Moving four weeks earlier to March costs 3.2 degrees of afternoon warmth and adds 2.1 rain days. We found no rate series, so we cannot say whether May costs more than April.

Is April a good time to visit Rosarito?

Yes, if you want mild afternoons at 74.3°F, a drive up the Scenic Highway and a sunset at 7:19 p.m., and you are content to look at the sea more than swim in it. Read the U.S. State Department’s Mexico advisory before booking. Reissued May 29, 2026, it puts Baja California at Level 3 (Reconsider travel) for terrorism, crime and kidnapping, and cites high homicide numbers in the non-tourist areas of Tijuana. Its only travel restrictions in the state are in the Mexicali Valley.
