How to Book Walt Disney World: Park Reservations, Park Hopper and the Order of Operations

Read on September 17, 2026, Walt Disney World’s own sitemap lists four theme parks and two water parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Across the four theme parks it files 129 attractions, from 41 at Magic Kingdom down to 15 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The water parks are filed as their own category, with 13 attractions at Typhoon Lagoon and 14 at Blizzard Beach.

Booking runs in an order: travel dates, a bed (Disney lists 256 hotel pages on its own site, and Orlando adds a second market outside the gates), tickets, then a park date for each day of the trip. Park Hopper sits on top of the ticket as an option. We do not quote a price, an opening hour, a wait time or a ride height minimum: Disney publishes none of them as a stable schedule that would still be accurate three weeks from now.

Disney lists 256 hotel pages and 252 dining locations across the four theme parks, which is why the booking looks larger than it is: the work comes down to four or five decisions taken in sequence. What you book first at Disney World

Dates come first, because every later step keys off them. Then the room: 256 hotel pages sit on Disney’s site, and off-property Orlando is a separate market with its own math (where to stay in Florida). Tickets follow the room, because the park-date step works from a ticket. Park dates come next, one per day of the trip, chosen among the four theme parks. Dining goes after that, while the calendar still has openings. Queue tools are a morning-of task, handled in Disney’s app rather than at booking.

Park reservations at Disney World: which parks need one and how to book with your ticket

Disney runs the park step inside its own account. You pick a date, then one of the four theme parks listed on its site, and the choice attaches to the ticket that will be used at the turnstile that day. The current rule text is not published as a fixed, citable schedule, so the flow you meet at booking carries more weight than any summary written weeks earlier.

The park date, the dining and the room are three separate steps, in three separate screens. Dining is the crowded one: the four theme parks list 252 dining locations between them, 107 of those at EPCOT alone, and the table-service rooms at the top of that list are not interchangeable with a counter window. Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach sit in their own category on Disney’s site, with 27 attractions between them, and their access conditions are set by Disney at the point of sale.

Nothing in the booking screen ranks what it offers. Magic Kingdom’s 41 listed attractions and Hollywood Studios’ 15 amount to the same single click, and no hour, crowd level or wait figure appears while you choose. One caution about our own numbers too: a count of pages in a sitemap is inventory, not attendance. We make no claim about which park draws the most visitors, because no visitor statistic sits in our sources.

Park Hopper at Disney World: how it works and the rules for four parks

The option is sold against 129 attractions across four parks: 41 at Magic Kingdom, 38 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, 35 at EPCOT, 15 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. On a four-day trip, one park a day already leaves most of the 129 unvisited, and hopping shifts that total very little once the travel between two gates is subtracted. Stays long enough to repeat a park change the calculation: a 15-attraction park pairs naturally with a second stop, and EPCOT’s 107 dining locations make it the usual evening half.

Value lands with travelers who have days to spare: repeat visitors, stays where a half day among Animal Kingdom’s 38 attractions still leaves an evening, adults with no stroller in the equation. First-timers holding three park days usually do better giving each day to one park. Families with small children pay the transit twice, once in each direction. Because Disney does not publish the hopper’s conditions as a citable schedule, read them in the ticket flow before you add the option.

How far ahead to book Walt Disney World: rooms, dining and park dates

Book the room and the restaurants before you think about park dates. A single hotel category among the 256 listed pages can close out while the resort overall still shows availability, and the best-known table-service rooms inside EPCOT’s 107 dining locations go in the opening minutes of their window. That ranking is editorial judgment drawn from how the flow behaves, not a published figure: Disney releases nothing on how fast any of it sells.

School breaks compress all of it into the same dates. Christmas week, March spring break and the days around the Fourth of July pull Orlando demand into narrow bands, and that calendar is the part of the year we can point to without an operator number (Orlando month by month for the season shape, the state calendar for the weather half). Outside those weeks, pressure sits on rooms and restaurants more than on park dates.

What we cannot give is the figure most people arrive looking for: how many days ahead the park-date and dining windows open. Disney has moved those windows before and does not publish them as a stable schedule, so a number printed today would mislead anyone booking in October. Open the booking flow on the day you start, read the window it shows you, and set a reminder for the morning it opens.

Disney World ticket prices, park hours and wait times

No ticket price, no hopper surcharge, no opening hour, no wait time and no ride height minimum appears in our text. The sitemap read on September 17, 2026 gave us the inventory and nothing more, and Disney publishes none of those figures as a stable, citable schedule. Printing them would mean printing something likely to be wrong within weeks. That was a decision, taken once, and it holds across our Disney coverage.

What Disney does publish, and keeps current, is the catalog: the names of four theme parks and two water parks, 129 attractions across the four, 252 dining locations, 256 hotel pages. Each of those pages carries a description, a location and the park it belongs to. Our counts come from that listing on a single date, and they will drift as attractions and restaurants open and close.

What is missing from citable form is everything tied to a specific day: date-based ticket pricing, the hopper’s conditions, opening and closing hours that move by season and by park, live wait times, and the height requirements posted at each queue entrance. All of it exists on Disney’s site as a live value, refreshed without notice and without an archive to cite.
