Florida Theme Parks: How Many There Are, Who Runs Each One, and How Many Days

Eight theme parks sit in the Orlando area, behind three separate gates: four at Walt Disney World, three at Universal Orlando, one at SeaWorld Orlando. Three water parks and two ticket-free districts push the count past a dozen named places, and no two itineraries quote the same total. Then come Busch Gardens and Legoland Florida, filed under Orlando by almost every plan and located in Tampa and Winter Haven.

Magic Kingdom lists 41 attractions. Disney’s Hollywood Studios lists 15. Those two published numbers decide more of a week than any impression does: one gate fills a day, the other can share one. Every count here is a count of pages each operator publishes, read on September 11, 2026, rather than an audited inventory.

Three of the five gates share one metro area, close enough that a park week runs from a single hotel. Base logistics and the airport run live in our Orlando guide, the crowd calendar in when to visit Orlando, and the question of ages and pacing in Florida with kids.

Eight gates in the Orlando area charge admission as theme parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Epic Universe and SeaWorld Orlando. Three water parks sit alongside them, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach at Disney, Volcano Bay at Universal. Add Busch Gardens in Tampa and Legoland Florida in Winter Haven and central Florida holds ten theme parks, the figure most people have in mind, and two of those ten need a car and a full day.

The per-park numbers come from the sitemaps each resort publishes: 2,222 URLs at Walt Disney World, 737 at Universal Orlando, 381 at SeaWorld Orlando. They are counts of published pages, a proxy rather than an inventory, and they still separate a 41-attraction park from a 15-attraction one. Not one of those files carries an attendance figure, so nothing here says which park draws more people than another.

Two names in the list take no admission ticket at all. Disney Springs publishes 78 shops, 75 dining pages and 8 attractions, and CityWalk fills the same role at Universal: an evening you can walk into after a park day, or instead of one. The three water parks go the other way. Each operator lists them as parks in their own right, so treat them as separate half-days rather than an add-on to a morning at a bigger gate.

Walt Disney World parks

Magic Kingdom carries the longest ride list of the four, 41 attractions, with 25 entertainment listings and 61 dining pages behind them. That combination is a full day with an evening attached, and a half-day visit leaves most of the 41 untouched.

EPCOT lists 35 attractions and 107 dining pages, more than double Animal Kingdom’s 45 and the largest food list published anywhere at the resort. It is the park where people eat. Build the day around meals and reservations and the numbers make sense. Walk it like Magic Kingdom and the distance between pavilions becomes the memory.

Animal Kingdom lists 38 attractions and 45 dining pages, and Pandora, The World of Avatar has its own section on Disney’s site, one of only three named lands that do. The other two sit at Hollywood Studios: Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land. That park’s ride list stops at 15, the shortest of the four, and the two lands are what fill the rest of the day.

Typhoon Lagoon lists 13 attractions and Blizzard Beach 14, half-days both. Disney Springs takes no admission ticket, which makes it the one evening in a Disney week that costs nothing at a gate.

Universal Orlando: Studios, Islands of Adventure and Epic Universe

Universal Orlando became a three-park resort with Epic Universe, alongside Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Across all of it the operator publishes 60 rides and attractions, 360 dining pages, 86 shopping pages, 19 entertainment listings, 16 shows and 15 character encounters, spread over 737 URLs. Volcano Bay is the water park. CityWalk is the district with no admission ticket.

The third gate changes the arithmetic of a visit. Two parks used to fit a two-day stay with a late evening at CityWalk between them. Three parks holding 60 attractions ask for three days if each one gets a morning, and Volcano Bay is a half-day on top of that. A trip that still budgets two Universal days now leaves a whole park unopened.

SeaWorld Orlando: rides and animal experiences

SeaWorld Orlando publishes 381 pages, and the split inside them is even: 21 attractions and 21 animal experiences. By the operator’s own count the animal encounters weigh exactly as much as the rides, and that balance is what separates the park from its neighbors.

A day there is shaped differently as a result. Half the list does not queue like a ride, so the plan runs on where you need to be rather than on how fast you can cross the park. For a group rationing one non-Disney day across mixed ages, the even split is the argument.

Busch Gardens Tampa and Legoland Florida: how far from Orlando

Busch Gardens is in Tampa. Legoland Florida is in Winter Haven. Both appear on the same state list of exempt facilities as the Orlando parks, one reason itineraries file all of them under a single city name, and neither is reachable from an Orlando hotel on foot, by resort bus or by hotel shuttle.

A drive at each end cuts the park day at both ends. Reaching Busch Gardens from the Orlando resorts runs around 90 minutes each way by car (est.), so a nine-hour day out buys roughly six hours inside the gate. Legoland is closer, near 60 minutes each way (est.), and still needs the car and the parking.

Winter Haven sits between Orlando and Tampa, which makes Legoland the easier of the two to slot into a transfer day. A family moving from the parks to a Gulf beach can stop on the way instead of driving out and back, and the Lego branding sorts the audience by itself: this is the gate for the age group that finds 41 attractions at Magic Kingdom too tall.

Busch Gardens attaches better to Tampa than to Orlando. A night on the Gulf side turns the drive into a leg of the trip instead of a round trip, and where to stay in Florida covers that split. Getting around Florida has the rental question. The car is not optional for either park.

The detour earns its place on a second Orlando trip, on a trip that wants a park outside the two big resorts, or on any itinerary already pointed toward Tampa. On a first five-day visit with four Disney gates and three Universal gates still unopened, it is the first line to cut.

How many days do the Orlando theme parks need?

Park What the operator lists Time to allow
Magic Kingdom 41 attractions · 25 entertainment Full day
EPCOT 35 attractions · 107 dining Full day, meal-led
Disney’s Animal Kingdom 38 attractions · 45 dining Full day
Disney’s Hollywood Studios 15 attractions · 2 named lands Half day to full day
Typhoon Lagoon · Blizzard Beach 13 and 14 attractions Half day each
Disney Springs 78 shops · 75 dining · 8 attractions An evening, no ticket
Universal Studios Florida Part of 60 resort-wide attractions Full day
Islands of Adventure Part of 60 resort-wide attractions Full day
Epic Universe Newest of the three gates Full day
Volcano Bay Water park Half day
CityWalk Entertainment district An evening, no ticket
SeaWorld Orlando 21 attractions · 21 animal experiences Full day
Busch Gardens (Tampa) Day trip Full day plus 90 min each way (est.)
Legoland Florida (Winter Haven) Day trip Full day plus an hour each way (est.)

Taken whole, the region asks for ten gate days plus three water park half-days, which no one-week trip absorbs. Cut down rather than cut out: Hollywood Studios at 15 attractions survives a half-day where Magic Kingdom at 41 does not, and EPCOT keeps most of its value in an afternoon and an evening because 107 of its pages are dining.

Seven gate days covers four Disney parks and three Universal parks. That is already a full week with no SeaWorld, no water park and no rest day in it. Groups that want the 21 animal experiences usually drop a Disney gate to make room, and dropping Hollywood Studios costs the fewest listed attractions.

Season compresses the day as much as the count does: Florida’s wet-season afternoons bring near-daily thunderstorms and heat that shortens a nine-hour gate day to something less. When to visit Orlando has the calendar and December the holiday-week version. Budget follows the gate count, one ticket per park per day, and what a Florida trip costs takes it from there.

Theme park tickets and opening hours

There is no ticket price and no opening hour anywhere here, for a reason worth stating. Disney and Universal render their sites entirely client-side: on September 11, 2026 the Disney site returned 987 KB of markup without a single occurrence of the words Magic Kingdom, and no price, no hour and no park name came back with it. Only the sitemaps are readable, and both operators price by date, so any figure printed on a travel page would be wrong for most dates.

For an amount or an hour, go to the operator, on your exact date. Do the same with passes: a pass sold at one resort admits you to that operator’s gates and no one else’s, and we could not read a single pass term from these sites, so the sum that says when a pass beats day tickets has to be run on the operator’s own calendar with your park list beside it. The gate count is settled either way: eight in Orlando, ten once the car goes to Tampa and Winter Haven.

Two more parks, and neither is in Orlando. Legoland Florida in Winter Haven, built for younger children and Busch Gardens in Tampa, a coaster park around a zoo.
