Yes, boats run directly from Naxos to Paros, and the crossing takes about 29 to 56 minutes depending on the boat. The hop is short enough that you can leave Naxos after breakfast, spend the day on Paros and be back for dinner without changing hotels.

How long does the ferry from Naxos to Paros take?
On a high-speed boat, plan on about half an hour. Blue Star Ferries takes about 45 to 50 minutes. The two islands lie about 11 miles (18 kilometers) apart, which is why the crossing feels so easy.
Which companies run the Naxos to Paros ferry?
SEAJETS, Blue Star Ferries and Golden Star Ferries all sail between the two islands. SEAJETS is among the operators on the Cyclades routes, and its high-speed ferries are the fastest way to reach Paros from Naxos. Blue Star Ferries is the biggest ferry company in Greece, and its crossings take longer. Booking sites compare around four operators in total, so the lineup on your date may vary.
How often do the ferries run, and does October change that?
Departures run through the day. Boats are abundant in July and August. May, June and September are quieter but still have regular crossings. October to March is trickier. In October, boats between Naxos and Paros still run frequently, though less often than in summer. A spontaneous day trip is realistic, as long as you don't plan around a summer timetable you remember from an earlier visit.
Note the last departure back from Paros on your date. Missing it can turn an easy excursion into an unplanned overnight stay.
Where do you catch the boat in Naxos, and where does it land on Paros?
On Naxos, the ferry port sits right in Naxos Town, also called Chora, on the island's west coast. The center is a few minutes' walk away. The promenade, the shops and the Portara are all close by. The Portara is the massive marble doorway of an unfinished temple of Apollo. If you're staying in town, simply walk down with your day bag.
The bus station lies just outside the port, and there's a taxi rank at the port exit. If you're staying in Agios Prokopios or Agia Anna, leave plenty of time to reach town, because taxis can be scarce in busy periods.
On Paros, the boat docks at Parikia, the capital and main port, also on the west coast. Whitewashed houses climb gently from the harbor. The bus station is just meters from the ferry terminal, immediately to the right as you leave the port. Taxis and rental vehicles wait at the port too.
How much does the Naxos to Paros ferry cost?
Fares depend on the operator and the boat, so the same crossing can cost noticeably different amounts on the same day. Comparison sites line up the operators for your date side by side. Check them, and the operator's own site, before you buy.
Do you need to book the Naxos to Paros ferry in advance?
Availability does shift with the season, though.
Secure the return crossing first, then shape your hours on Paros around it. Check the timetable again a day or two before you go. Booking is easy online, through a comparison site or the operator. Pre-booked tickets can be printed at travel agencies across from the port entrance in Parikia.
Can wind cancel the Naxos to Paros ferry?
Yes, it can. Itineraries may be modified due to bad weather, on this route as anywhere in the Aegean. If the forecast looks unsettled, check with the operator the evening before and again that morning. Leave a generous buffer before your return sailing so a delay doesn't unravel the day. Keep the evening you come back free of anything important.
How do you get around Paros on a day trip?
Parikia is the main bus hub. Routes run to Naoussa, Aliki, Lefkes and Pounta, the port for Antiparos. Service is usually thinner outside summer. The current timetable is valid from 3 to 18 October 2026, so check it when you land.
2026 prices: tickets bought on board the bus cost €2.80 or €4.00, which is more than you pay buying beforehand.
For more freedom, rent a car. Most places on Paros are within about 35 minutes by car. You can also rent an ATV, though many visitors find a small car handier for a single day, especially when the wind picks up. If you go with an ATV, leave yourself a little extra time at the port before your ferry back, since the drop-off area can fill up shortly before sailing.
To stretch the day to Antiparos, take the bus from Parikia to Pounta, south of the main port. The ride takes about 20 minutes, and the car ferry across takes about 7.
What can you do on Paros once you arrive?
Start in Parikia, which rewards slow wandering. Its blue-shuttered lanes lead to small chapels and marble-paved squares. Near the waterfront you'll find a Venetian-era castle, put together partly with marble recycled from an ancient temple. Just a short stroll from the ferry dock stands the Church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani, among the oldest surviving churches in Greece.
Naoussa makes the natural second stop, about 30 minutes away by bus. Its bus terminal is a level 6-minute walk from the harbor. Naoussa has a small stone harbor, colorful wooden boats and a low Venetian fort. Small tavernas right by the water serve the day's catch, so Naoussa is a lovely spot to plan lunch.
With a car, head inland to Lefkes, the island's medieval capital. It's a village of marble streets, with a square shaded by plane trees and views back down to the Aegean. Alternatively, drive to Kolymbithres beach, where wind and sea have carved the granite into smooth, sculptural shapes.
Wear comfortable shoes, because Parikia's marble lanes, Naoussa's cobbled harbor and the climb up to Lefkes add up to a lot of walking. Some visitors like to keep a little cash on hand for small villages such as Aliki and Piso Livadi.
