Somewhere between the cruise pier and the first frozen drink of the day, a traveler looks up and sees a sign with a palm tree, a salt-rimmed glass and the words Margaritaville. In the Bahamas, that sign hangs in one spot only. It belongs to a restaurant and bar on Paradise Island, built for steel-drum afternoons, loud Friday nights and a Saturday party with a DJ, rather than to a beachfront resort with rooms.

What is Margaritaville in Nassau?
Margaritaville Bahamas is a restaurant and bar on Paradise Island, and it is the only Margaritaville restaurant in the Bahamas. The name often appears next to Nassau in searches, and a few people expect a resort with a pool and a room key. What the place offers is a table, a drink, a dance floor and a late night.
The brand grew out of the songs of Jimmy Buffett, whose music is about sandy feet, a slow afternoon and a drink with a little umbrella in it. The Margaritaville restaurants around the world borrow that mood, with island colors, casual clothes and a soundtrack you can hum along to. The Bahamas branch adds something of its own, because Friday here includes a Junkanoo Rush Out, a nod to the island’s own street tradition.
A restaurant, not a resort
Think of Margaritaville as a destination for a meal, a long drink or an evening out, and not as a place to sleep. Hotels and resorts are a separate matter in the Bahamas, and they sit in other parts of New Providence and on other islands. If your plan is a beach stay with a pool and a room, you will be choosing that elsewhere and visiting Margaritaville as an outing.
That distinction helps when you are building a day. A restaurant that stays open into the night works as a late stop after a sightseeing afternoon, or as the whole plan for an evening on its own.
Hours
The doors open late in the morning and stay open until midnight, every day of the week. That long window makes it a place for a lunch, an afternoon drink or a late supper, and it suits travelers whose schedules are set by a ship, a flight or a tour rather than by a dinner hour.

The mood
Expect a relaxed, loud, good-humored room. Margaritaville is built around the idea that vacation starts the moment you sit down, so the dress code is whatever you wore to the pier, and the pace of the day is whatever your table decides. It tends to be a lively choice for groups of friends, couples on a night out and families who want a casual place rather than a quiet dining room.
Because Friday and Saturday nights are built around music and crowds, the weekend feels very different from a weekday lunch. A weekday visit suits a conversation and a long drink. A weekend visit suits dancing, singing and a parade.
What is on site?
On site you find a restaurant and bar with a weekly program of nights out: karaoke, Ladies Night, a Junkanoo Rush Out and a Saturday party with a live DJ. Friday carries most of it, and the schedule gives the place its personality.
| Night | What happens |
|---|---|
| Friday | Karaoke |
| Friday, from 8 PM | Ladies Night |
| Friday | Junkanoo Rush Out with parade, costumes, and drink and food specials |
| Saturday | Party with a live DJ and local Bucket beer |
Friday: karaoke, Ladies Night and the Rush Out
Friday is the busiest page of the week. Karaoke runs through the night, so the microphone passes from table to table and the songs range from island classics to whatever a brave guest picks. Ladies Night begins at 8 PM and gives the evening a social, party-with-friends energy.
The Junkanoo Rush Out is the part that makes the Bahamas branch different from its siblings elsewhere. Junkanoo is the Bahamian tradition of rhythm, cowbells, whistles and elaborate costumes, usually seen in the streets around Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Here a parade, costumes and drink and food specials bring a taste of it every Friday, which gives visitors a way to see the spirit of Junkanoo without being in the islands at the holiday.
Come with a sense of fun. A night like this rewards people who join in, clap along and take a turn at the microphone, or at least cheer for the person who does.
Saturday night party
Saturday trades the microphone for a DJ. The party runs every Saturday night, with a live DJ at the decks and local Bucket beer on the menu. Bucket is a Bahamian beer brand, so ordering one is a small way to taste something local in a room that is otherwise a global brand’s idea of an island.
This is the night for dancing rather than conversation. If you prefer a quieter table, the daytime hours and the early evening are the calmer choice, and the weekend program starts to build as the night goes on.
Days and quieter hours
Between the big nights, the restaurant is open from late morning until midnight, which makes it a flexible stop for lunch, a cold drink or a late snack. The theme is still tropical and informal, with a menu in the spirit of the brand and drinks to match. The bar is the natural place to start if you are still deciding what to eat.
A weekday visit gives you the room, the music and the island theme at a gentler volume. A Friday or Saturday gives you the full show. Pick the night that matches the trip you have in mind.
Where is it?
Margaritaville Bahamas is in the Ferry Complex at One Marina Drive on Paradise Island, in the Bahamas. That address is the one to give a driver, a ride app or a friend meeting you there.
Paradise Island and the Ferry Complex
Paradise Island is its own island, separate from the island of New Providence where the city of Nassau sits. The restaurant is in the Ferry Complex on Marina Drive, a spot that takes its name from the boats and the waterfront around it. If you search a map for the address, search for Paradise Island and not for downtown Nassau, since the two are different places.
The name Nassau often travels with Margaritaville because visitors arrive through Nassau and think of the whole area under that word. Calling it Nassau is a fine shorthand in conversation, but the place on the map is Paradise Island.
Not on Cable Beach
Some travelers expect Margaritaville to be on Cable Beach, because the brand’s beach-and-resort image fits that stretch of coast. Cable Beach is a different area, on the northern coast of New Providence, west of Nassau. It runs for two and a half miles and is known for its resorts, among them Baha Mar, Breezes, Meliá Nassau Beach and the Sandals Royal Bahamian, and it is home to Pompey Market.
The beach takes its name from an 1892 submarine telegraph cable that linked Jupiter, Florida, to Goodman’s Bay. Its hotel history goes back to the 1950s, when the Emerald Beach Hotel opened as the first air conditioned hotel in the Bahamas. It is worth knowing the difference before you plan a day, because a Cable Beach stay and a Margaritaville night are two separate outings.
Planning around it
Put Margaritaville on the Paradise Island part of your plan and set it beside other things you want to do there. Since the restaurant stays open until midnight, it can be the final stop of a long day, and since it opens at 10am, it can also be a first stop.
For an evening, think about the weekly program. Friday offers karaoke, Ladies Night and the Rush Out. Saturday offers the DJ party. Any other night is the quieter version of the same room.
Good to know before you go
The U.S. State Department rates the Bahamas Level 2, “Exercise increased caution”, and says most crime occurs in Nassau on New Providence and in Freeport on Grand Bahama.
Margaritaville Bahamas is a single restaurant on Paradise Island, so the plan is simple: pick a night, pick a time and head for the Ferry Complex at One Marina Drive. The Atlantic hurricane season runs through the end of November, so a trip around now falls inside it, and weather can shape an evening out.
Friday and Saturday carry the music, the parade and the party, while the other days offer the same room at a slower pace. The Bucket beer on Saturday is a Bahamian touch worth ordering.
