These are the official 1991-2020 normals from a real thermometer, not a model of a grid cell, and they describe the town rather than a spot on its edge. Things to do in San Miguel de Allende in September
We hold no verified September event date, so none is listed. What the month offers is the ordinary pleasure of the town at 79.2°F: a morning at a ruin or a garden, an afternoon in the cobbled center, and dusk on the plaza under the Parroquia’s pink towers.
Cañada de la Virgen charges 100 pesos for adults and 25 pesos for children, and visitors from the surrounding indigenous communities enter free. It is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., last entry 4 p.m. You walk almost a kilometer, then the state culture institute’s 20-passenger vehicles shuttle you the final stretch. El Charco del Ingenio, a botanical garden and nature reserve, charges 100 pesos general admission and 50 pesos for students, teachers and seniors with ID. It is open daily, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Both sites are outdoors, so the 9.9 rain days matter more than the 79.2°F afternoons. Take the rain shell to Cañada de la Virgen, where the almost-kilometer walk comes before the shuttle. El Charco’s rates were posted in December 2024, so confirm them at the gate. El Charco was founded as a civil association in 1991 and holds a large collection of Mexican cactus and succulent species, many rare or endangered.

San Miguel de Allende itinerary for September
Day one. Reach Cañada de la Virgen when it opens at 10 a.m. (it is closed Mondays), pay the 100 pesos per adult, walk the almost kilometer and ride the 20-passenger shuttle the rest of the way. Last entry is 4 p.m., but finishing early leaves the afternoon for the cobbled center. Be on the Jardín Principal before the 6:46 p.m. sunset, with the layer in your bag for the 54.1°F end of the day.
Day two. El Charco del Ingenio opens daily at 9 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m., with 100 pesos at the gate. If day one falls on a Monday, swap the order, since El Charco is open every day. When the sky turns, and our data cannot say which hours, move the garden to the next dry morning and spend the gray afternoon in a hot-spring park on the road toward Dolores Hidalgo.
