Thirty days stand between a November arrival and the official close of the Atlantic hurricane season on the 30th. That gap matters less than the calendar makes it look, because the basin’s busy stretch runs August through October and the map usually quiets after it. Both things are true at once, and both belong in the booking decision. Hurricane Melissa came ashore on October 28, 2025, about a month before that closing date, which is why we still treat the final month of the season as a month of the season.

What the quieter map buys is a rare combination: 84°F days and 75°F nights in Montego Bay, a sea still holding 85°F, 13 rain days in Kingston against 21 in Port Antonio, and asking rates that stay soft (est.) right up to the moment high season opens in mid-December. November inside hurricane season: the Nov 30 close vs an active alert

Climatology and a live forecast answer two different questions. Climatology says the active stretch, August through October, is behind you and that the season ends on November 30. It cannot say your particular week is clear. Late-season systems are uncommon rather than impossible, and the only source that speaks to your dates is the National Hurricane Center in the days before departure. The practical response costs almost nothing: take the refundable rate, buy the policy the day you book rather than the week you fly, and treat the last fortnight of November with the same care as the first.

After Hurricane Melissa: Negril, the south coast and the early-2026 counts

The storm’s mark shows up in room inventory rather than in the weather. In the January 2026 counts, Negril had 43 hotels open and 11 still closed, air connectivity was fully restored, and arrivals were running at 80% of pre-storm volume. The south coast tells a slower story: roughly 650 rooms out of service that month, with some reopenings scheduled as far ahead as June 2027. November prices in Jamaica: the last soft weeks before mid-December

Jamaican rate seasonality turns on one boundary: high season opens mid-December and runs to mid-April. November sits on the cheap side of that line for all thirty of its days, with none of the holiday supplements and minimum-stay clauses that appear in Christmas contracts (est.). November weather in Jamaica: temperatures and rain days, coast by coast

1991–2020 normals (ERA5) for the three reference cities. The rain column counts days, it does not forecast them: 17 days at Montego Bay means the reanalysis records at least 1 mm on 17 grid-cell days, roughly one in two. November showers run short and warm, usually overnight or late afternoon, and the eastern parishes carry most of the volume, which is how Port Antonio reaches 138 mm while Kingston stops at 72 mm.

Summer water on autumn rates. The sea averages 85°F this month, two degrees under October’s 87°F peak and two above the 83°F it settles to in December. In practice that is bath-adjacent water in which nobody counts the minutes, which matters for snorkeling trips with children and for anyone who normally quits the reef shivering.

The light goes early. Kingston loses the sun around 5:35pm at the start of the month and 5:30pm at the end, so afternoon plans need shifting forward. Waterfall climbs and boat runs work best before 3pm, leaving the long warm evening for dinner. November hands over most of what the winter high season sells and charges shoulder money for it: 85°F water, 84°F afternoons in Montego Bay, 13 rain days in Kingston, and a beach that does not need reserving. The admission fee is a line on the calendar. Until the 30th the season is technically open, so book refundable, buy the policy that same day, and file the free C5 form once your dates are firm.
