WEKIWA SPRINGS · NOVEMBER · CENTRAL FLORIDA
The USGS gauge in the Wekiwa run read 75.6°F on September 11, 2026, and it reads close to that on any date you pick, in July or in January. November moves the air, not the water. Mid-afternoon averages 78.3°F, the night before it averaged 58.2°F, and the whole month collects 1.79 inches of rain.
That single fixed number reorganizes the trip. Orlando International Airport sits about 27 miles (44 km) away, so most people drive in for the day and sleep elsewhere, and November makes the day trip easy: 1.79 inches of rain against October’s 3.46, with daylight running to 5:33 p.m. on the 15th. For the park outside any one month, our Wekiwa Springs guide has the ground rules, and last month’s conditions sit in October.

THE MONTH AT A GLANCE · WEKIWA SPRINGS
In November the air averages 78.3°F by mid-afternoon over a spring holding 75.6°F whatever the date, and the month collects 1.79 inches of rain against October’s 3.46.
DRY SEASON · 3 WET DAYS · 10 H 45 MIN OF DAYLIGHT ON THE 15TH
Go for: 15.9 miles of paddling trail and 13.7 miles of hiking trail without summer heat, a 75.6°F swim, and a 325-space lot that meets its hardest test in summer rather than now.
Think twice before: counting on warm air to dry you off. Sunset falls at 5:33 p.m. on the 15th, so a four o’clock swim ends with the temperature already dropping toward a 58.2°F night.

Two thermometers matter here and they are not in the same place. The air figures come from an airport 27 miles off; the water figure comes from a gauge in the spring run itself. Every comparison below uses both, and names which one it is reading.

Every air figure here comes from one real thermometer, and it is not at the spring: NOAA NCEI’s 1991-2020 monthly normals for station USW00012815, Orlando International Airport, about 27 miles (44 km) away. Those normals give November an average high of 78.3°F, an average low of 58.2°F and 1.79 inches of rain. They describe open ground beside a runway, which is a fair regional signal and nothing more. The water keeps its own number regardless of what the airport records.
Three days in an average November collect at least a tenth of an inch of rain: call it one day in ten. Only half a day a month reaches a full inch, so a real soaking shows up roughly every other November. Most wet days here amount to an hour of gray over the picnic tables rather than a written-off weekend. And rain does not cool a spring, so the swim is the one plan the forecast cannot touch.
Between the 58.2°F dawn and the 78.3°F mid-afternoon sits 20.1°F of daily range, more than most visitors pack for. A fleece for the drive in, a T-shirt by ten, a swimsuit at one, the fleece again once you stop moving. Towels earn their space in November in a way they never do in July: you climb out of 75.6°F water into air that is already cooling, with the sun low behind the oaks.
On November 15 the sun rises at 6:47 a.m. and sets at 5:33 p.m. local time, giving 10 hours 45 minutes of daylight (sunrise-sunset.org). That shapes the paddle more than anything else: turn around in time to be off the water by four, because the last stretch of the run loses light early. Dinner belongs back in Orlando, after dark, and the drive out is a night drive.
How warm is Wekiwa Springs in November?
November’s average afternoon reaches 78.3°F and its average night bottoms out at 58.2°F, a spread of 20.1°F. The water sits between them at 75.6°F, within 2.7 degrees of the average afternoon air. One caveat on that 75.6: it is a single instantaneous gauge reading taken on September 11, 2026, not an average of daily maxima and not a monthly mean. The USGS record simply shows the spring holding near that figure all year.
In practice, the morning is the cold part of the day and the water is the warm part. At 7 a.m. the air is 17.4 degrees below the spring, so the first swimmers of the day step into water warmer than the parking lot. By one o’clock the balance flips by three degrees and a swim feels like a swim rather than a plunge. Long sleeves before nine, swimsuit from noon, and something dry waiting for four o’clock.
We found no count of freezing nights in the NOAA normals we read for November, so we give no number for frost. Remember what the 58.2°F is: an average of thirty nightly lows, with individual nights running well underneath it. Day visitors will never notice. Anyone sleeping outdoors should pack for the low fifties and be glad if it stays higher.
How busy is Wekiwa Springs in November? Crowds, parking and fees
November opens Florida’s dry season, the November-to-April half of the year the state’s weather runs on, and the daily storm pattern of the wet months is behind you (our best-time guide lays out the two seasons). On prices we stay quiet: we found no occupancy series and no monthly room-rate series for this corner of central Florida, so we crown no month cheap and no month expensive. What we can count is capacity at the gate.
Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection counts 325 parking spaces in its 2024 facilities inventory. When the lot fills, the gate closes, and no booking made at home reopens it. That is a summer Saturday problem above all, but weekend mornings in any month funnel everyone into the same two hours. We could not verify whether day-use slots can be reserved, so the workable advice stands: reach the entrance early on a Saturday, or trade the Saturday for a Tuesday and stop watching the clock.
We could not verify the park’s entrance fee, its opening hour, or the county lodging-tax rate, so no dollar figure and no percentage come from us. The state parks site answers automated reads with a 403, and fees differ by park and by season, which means a price copied from another Florida spring does not transfer to this one. Budget the day with our Florida trip-cost guide and confirm the gate charge when you call.
There is one line in the budget that genuinely changes November, and it is the bed. Sleeping close to the entrance buys the lot before it fills and the run before the first paddles reach it. A cheaper room 27 miles back toward the airport costs you exactly that hour, plus the drive in the dark at the other end. Our where-to-stay guide covers the wider region.
Things to do in Wekiwa Springs in November

November is the month you can spend the whole day outdoors and still want the swim. Walking 13.7 miles of trail under a 78.3°F ceiling is a different proposition from walking it in the wet season, and with 1.79 inches of rain across thirty days the afternoon storm that governs a Florida summer has stopped governing anything. Paddling, hiking and swimming all fit into one November day, which is not true of July and not comfortable in December.
The state’s 2024 inventory counts what the park actually holds: one designated swimming area, one canoe, kayak and tube launch, 15.9 miles of paddling trail, 13.7 miles of hiking trail, 1,435 feet of boardwalk and the 325 parking spaces. Two of those numbers do the work. Swimming happens in a single spot, so everyone converges on it, while the paddling trail spreads a crowd over nearly sixteen miles of water and swallows a busy morning whole.
The month changes the air around those places, never the water inside them. In October, with afternoons at 84.7°F, the spring runs 9.1 degrees below the air and you get in to cool down. In December, at 73.8°F, the air runs 1.8 degrees below the water and you get out to warm up. November sits almost level, 2.7 degrees apart, and the entry stops being a shock at either end of the swim.
We could not read an entrance fee for Wekiwa Springs, so we will not tell you what is free inside it. Once you are past the gate, though, nothing else asks for money: the 1,435 feet of boardwalk, all 13.7 miles of trail and the swimming area come with whatever the gate charged. Only the boats, if you do not bring your own, sit outside that.
Wekiwa Springs in November: a two-day itinerary
Day one is the water day, and it starts at the 6:47 a.m. sunrise. Be at the entrance in the first hour, launch by eight while the air is still under seventy, and give the paddling trail three hours out and back. Swim at one o’clock, when the air hits its 78.3°F average and the 75.6°F spring feels like the cooler of the two. Dry off by three, walk the 1,435 feet of boardwalk, and clear the lot before the 5:33 p.m. sunset.
Day two goes on foot: an early start again on the 13.7 miles of hiking trail, lunch back at the picnic area, a second swim in the afternoon warmth. If the sky turns, remember the arithmetic. Only three days in an average November bring a tenth of an inch, and only half a day brings a full inch. Rain shortens the hike and leaves the swim untouched, since the spring runs 75.6°F wet or dry. Shift the trail miles to the following morning and keep the water plan.
Wekiwa Springs in November vs October and December
| October | November | December | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Average high | 84.7°F | 78.3°F | 73.8°F |
| Average low | 66.2°F | 58.2°F | 52.9°F |
| Precipitation | 3.46 in | 1.79 in | 2.48 in |
| Days with 0.10 in or more | 5.3 | 3.0 | 3.7 |
| Spring water | 75.6°F, no season | 75.6°F, no season | 75.6°F, no season |
October runs 6.4 degrees warmer by day and 8.0 degrees warmer at night than November, and pays for it with 3.46 inches of rain over 5.3 wet days. December drops 4.5 degrees by day and 5.3 at night, with 2.48 inches over 3.7 wet days. November is the driest of the three by a clear margin, roughly half of October’s total. The spring ignores all of it and holds 75.6°F in every column.
Shift four weeks earlier and you gain warm evenings and lose two and a half wet days plus a month of quiet trails. Shift four weeks later and you gain the coldest mornings of the three, with the water now the warmest thing in the park: December afternoons average 1.8 degrees below the spring. Swimmers who want the air on their side have November as the last of the three months that delivers it.
Is November a good time to visit Wekiwa Springs?
Yes, for anyone who came to move. Paddlers, hikers and swimmers get 78.3°F afternoons, 1.79 inches of rain across the month and a 325-space lot under far less pressure than in summer. The trip fails for one kind of visitor only: the person picturing hours flat on a towel in heat. November afternoons are pleasant, not hot, and the 58.2°F mornings mean the first two hours of daylight are cool enough for sleeves.
If that describes you, take October instead. Afternoons average 84.7°F and nights hold at 66.2°F, so the sunbathing works and the evening on a terrace works with it. The bill is weather risk: 3.46 inches of rain and 5.3 days at a tenth of an inch or more, nearly double November’s count. Our October page runs the same numbers for that month.
What November alone offers: an average afternoon that still stands above the spring’s 75.6°F, with the driest sky of the fall over it.
The last word
The decision that matters in November is not the month, it is the day of the week and the hour you leave home. Weekend mornings send everyone toward 325 spaces and one swimming area, while a Tuesday at 6:47 a.m. costs nothing extra and leaves the run to you. Worth carrying on the drive: Florida Statutes 373.802(5) names Wekiwa outright as an Outstanding Florida Spring, one of six written into the law by hand beside De Leon, Peacock, Poe, Rock Springs and Gemini.
