Every figure here comes from one thermometer: NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information station USW00012815 at Orlando International Airport, averaged over 1991 to 2020. That is an official station normal, measured on the ground, and it will not always match the grid-cell reanalysis numbers some weather apps serve. At MCO, July averages a high of 92.0°F (33.3°C) and a low of 73.2°F (22.9°C), with 7.46 inches of rain across the month.
Rain of at least 0.10 inch falls on 11.5 days in an average July, a little more often than one day in three. A 0.10-inch day can be a single brief shower. Two days in an average July bring an inch or more, enough to end an outdoor plan. How warm is Orlando in July?
The month runs from a 92.0°F average high to a 73.2°F average low. Orlando is inland, and we read no sea-surface temperature for July. Where our coastal guides give one, it is an average of daily maxima, a little warmer than a 24-hour mean. The nearest water we measured is spring water: the USGS gauge at Wekiwa Springs read 75.6°F on September 11, 2026, a single instant reading rather than a monthly average.
Dress for two different days. Near sunrise the air sits closest to its 73.2°F low, and a T-shirt and shorts are all you want. By early afternoon, with highs averaging 92.0°F, bring a wide-brim hat, sunscreen you reapply, a refillable water bottle and fabric that dries fast after a storm.
We read no record-low series, so we give no count of freezing nights. The normal low of 73.2°F leaves the fleece at home.
How busy is Orlando in July? Crowds and prices
We found no hotel-rate or occupancy series for Orlando, so we rank no month as cheap or expensive. Two calendar facts stand. March fills the theme parks with family school holidays, and July falls inside the summer break of most American schools, so expect families in the queues. Disney and Universal price tickets dynamically by date, and a figure written today goes stale within weeks, so check the operator for any amount. We verified no booking lead time, so we give no week count. Hurricane dates shape July bookings: the Atlantic season runs June 1 to November 30 and peaks on September 10, with most activity between mid-August and mid-October. July sits inside the season but ahead of that stretch, so a refundable room and a look at the tropics before you fly still make sense. MCO boarded 27,859,783 passengers in 2024, the busiest airport in Florida. Sanford (SFB) boarded 1.4 million and lies north of MCO, and we could not verify its distance to the parks. Orlando and the parks sit in Orange County, and the county levies a 6.0% transient rental tax on stays. It is filed and paid together with Florida’s 6% state sales tax, so expect both percentages on the room bill on top of the nightly rate. Resort fees and parking, where a property charges them, arrive as separate lines.
Spend the extra money on location. A room near the park you are visiting, with a pool, lets you walk out at midday when the heat peaks and storms are most likely, then walk back in for the evening. A cheaper room a long drive away turns that break into a round trip, and most people end up staying in the park through the hottest hours.
Things to do in Orlando in July
July is swim season at the springs. Long days of 13 hours 49 minutes leave room for a morning in the water and an evening in a park. Manatees belong to the other half of the year: they gather at springs in winter, when the river around the spring cools. Wekiwa Springs State Park is the nearest spring to Orlando. The state’s 2024 facilities inventory counts one designated swimming area, one canoe, kayak and tube launch, 15.9 miles of paddling trail, 13.7 miles of hiking trail and 1,435 feet of boardwalk. Rock Springs, the tubing run at Kelly Park north of town, read 75.0°F on September 11, 2026. Farther out, Blue Spring State Park has 3,050 feet of boardwalk, the longest at any Florida spring park in that inventory, plus three observation platforms and six cabins.
The USGS gauge at Wekiwa read 75.6°F on September 11, 2026, and the spring holds its temperature through the year while the air moves. Against July’s 92.0°F average high, that water runs 16.4°F cooler. Blue Spring read 74.3°F the same day, flowing at 168 cubic feet per second. In winter the gap runs the other way, and the same water draws manatees in from a cooled river.
We could not read entrance fees or park hours, since the state parks site refused our requests and fees vary by park and season, so we cannot say what is free in July. Parking counts tell you more about a summer morning. Wekiwa has 325 spaces and Blue Spring 187, and cars get turned away at the popular springs on summer mornings once those fill. Lake Louisa State Park has 278 spaces, a swimming area, five launches and 20 cabins, Rock Springs Run State Reserve only 30, and Silver Springs State Park, the glass-bottom-boat spring, 1,686. Arrive early.
Orlando in July: a two-day itinerary
Start the park day with the 6:36 a.m. sunrise and be at the gate when your park opens (the operator sets the hour and the ticket price by date). Ride the outdoor attractions first, while the air is closest to its 73.2°F low. By early afternoon, with the high averaging 92.0°F and storms most likely, head back to the hotel pool. Return late in the afternoon and stay through the 8:26 p.m. sunset, when the heat has eased and the light is still good.
On day two, drive north to Wekiwa Springs State Park early, before its 325 parking spaces fill. Swim in the designated area, paddle part of its 15.9 miles of trail, and leave the water at the first thunder. If the morning opens with heavy rain, one of July’s two inch-plus days on average, swap the two days: parks keep indoor attractions, and the spring holds the same temperature whenever you arrive. Plan on a car to reach Wekiwa.

Across the three summer months at MCO, July has the hottest average high, 92.0°F against 90.8°F in June and 91.6°F in August, and the smallest rain total, 7.46 inches against 8.05 and 7.69. August has the warmest nights at 73.7°F, half a degree above July, and June the coolest at 71.6°F. Rain frequency is identical, with 11.5 days of at least 0.10 inch in each. Every one of these normals comes from the same NOAA station and the same 1991 to 2020 period.
Moving four weeks earlier, to June, buys afternoons 1.2°F cooler and nights 1.6°F cooler, for 0.59 inch more rain and the same 11.5 wet days. Moving four weeks later, to August, trims 0.4°F off the high but adds 0.5°F to the low and 0.23 inch of rain. It also brings you to mid-August, where the busiest stretch of the hurricane season begins.
Is July a good time to visit Orlando?
Yes, for families tied to the school calendar, for trips built around pools, springs and park evenings, and for anyone who likes an early start. July is a harder sell if your idea of Orlando is long midday walks between attractions, or if a non-refundable booking in hurricane season would spoil the vacation before it starts. At a 92.0°F average high, mornings and evenings carry the day.

Split the July day at noon and Orlando gives you two good halves: rides and springs in the cool of the morning, parks and pools again as the light goes long toward 8:26 p.m. Book the room close enough to make that break easy, and keep the booking refundable.
