The Atlantic hurricane season opens on June 1, and by mid-month the sun stays up until 8:26 p.m. None of that cancels a vacation. You simply plan the day differently: cold spring water early, air-conditioning at midday, and the long evening for the parks.

MCO, Orlando International, boarded 27,859,783 passengers in calendar year 2024, the busiest airport in Florida and ahead of Miami. Sanford SFB, north of MCO, boarded 1.4 million. Every figure here comes from NOAA NCEI’s 1991–2020 monthly normals for station USW00012815 at Orlando International Airport: a real thermometer at a named site, not a reanalysis grid cell. That station puts the average June high at 90.8°F and the average low at 71.6°F, with 8.05 inches of precipitation across the month. Treat those as a 30-year average for one airport gauge, and check the forecast for your own week before you fly.
Measurable rain, meaning 0.10 inch or more, falls on 11.5 days in an average June: a little more than one day in three. On 2.5 of those days the gauge collects an inch or more, so roughly one June day in twelve is a real soaking. Mornings near 72°F call for shorts, a T-shirt and sandals you can get wet. By the afternoon, at around 91°F, switch to quick-dry fabric, a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses, and plan shade breaks between rides. A light long-sleeve layer earns its spot in the bag for air-conditioned restaurants and shows, where the drop from outside feels sharp.
We read no count of freezing June nights in our sources. The average low of 71.6°F sits 39.6 degrees above 32°F, so leave the jacket at home and pack for heat and rain instead.
How busy is Orlando in June? Crowds and prices
We found no hotel-rate or occupancy series for Orlando, so we rank no month cheap or expensive. The calendar fact we could verify points to March, when family school holidays fill the theme parks, while college spring break weighs on the beach towns. For June, the date on the calendar that matters is June 1, the opening of the Atlantic hurricane season.
Disney and Universal price tickets dynamically by date, so we print no ticket amount and send you to the operators for it. We have no booking lead-time data either, so we give no count of weeks. Orange County, where Orlando and the parks sit, levies a 6.0% transient rental tax on rooms, filed and paid with the 6% state sales tax (Florida Department of Revenue, form DR-15TDT). Pay extra for a refundable rate, and for little else. The hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, peaks on September 10, and does most of its work between mid-August and mid-October, so June falls inside the window but ahead of the busy stretch. Things to do in Orlando in June
In June the afternoon air runs about 15 degrees warmer than the water at Wekiwa Springs: a 90.8°F average high against the 75.6°F the USGS gauge read on September 11, 2026. May’s 88.4°F high narrows that gap to under 13 degrees. A spring plunge at midmorning is the most refreshing hour an Orlando summer day offers.
Wekiwa Springs State Park, the nearest spring to Orlando, has 325 parking spaces, one designated swimming area, one canoe, kayak and tube launch, 15.9 miles of paddling trail, 13.7 miles of hiking trail and 1,435 feet of boardwalk. Rock Springs, the tubing run at Kelly Park, read 75.0°F the same day. Blue Spring State Park counts 187 spaces, 3,050 feet of boardwalk, three observation platforms and six cabins, with water at 74.3°F. Lake Louisa State Park adds 278 spaces, a swimming area, five paddle launches and 20 cabins.
Spring water does not move with the month. The air does, and that gap sets the season. Manatees gather at Blue Spring in winter because the river around it cools while the aquifer water holds steady. June is outside those winter months, and we verified no manatee count for it: the manatee calendar is in our manatee guide. Parking sets the June pace. With 325 spaces at Wekiwa and 187 at Blue Spring, popular springs turn cars away on summer mornings, so arrive early.
We could not read entrance fees or hours from the Florida state parks site, so we cannot say which spring costs nothing to enter. The free item we did verify is on the bus: a LYNX transfer costs nothing, and the All-Day Pass is $4.50 if you ask the operator for it before putting money in the farebox. Orlando in June: a two-day itinerary
Day one. Leave around sunrise, 6:26 a.m. on June 15, for Wekiwa Springs, and check the park’s hours before you drive, since we could not read them. Swim, then walk the 1,435-foot boardwalk before noon while the air is closest to its low. Be back at the hotel by early afternoon for the pool and air-conditioning through the hottest hours. From 5 p.m., head into a theme park with more than three hours of daylight left, and confirm that park’s closing time for your date with the operator.
Day two. Spend the morning tubing at Kelly Park’s Rock Springs, in water that read 75.0°F, and give the evening to a second park. If the forecast flags one of June’s 2.5 inch-plus days, get out of the water at the first thunder and move the swim to the drier day. Against May, June adds 2.4°F to the average high and 5.3°F to the low, and it doubles the rain: 4.02 inches over 5.7 wet days becomes 8.05 inches over 11.5. July runs 1.2°F hotter by day and 1.6°F warmer by night, with slightly less rain, 7.46 inches, over the same 11.5 wet days. We read no sea temperature for inland Orlando, so we give none. The spring water we measured does not move with the month, so it stays put across all three.
Moving four weeks earlier to May buys half the wet days and a trip that ends before June 1, outside hurricane season, with mornings closer to 66°F. Moving four weeks later to July gains almost nothing on rain, adds heat, and brings the trip closer to the mid-August start of the season’s busiest stretch. Is June a good time to visit Orlando?
Yes, if summer is your only window, if your crew loves pools and springs, and if you will book refundable and plan the day around the heat. No, if 90.8°F afternoons wear you out, if you need a non-refundable fare, or if rain on 11.5 days would sink a trip built around outdoor rides.
Pick May if you can. Its average high is 88.4°F, its rain falls on 5.7 days instead of 11.5, and it ends before the hurricane season opens on June 1. The spring water is the same in either month, so the swim loses none of its chill.

June in Orlando comes down to one decision: whether you can book a refundable trip and let 11.5 rain days bend the schedule. If you can, the month is warm, bright and full of cold water just north of the parks.
