The sea route runs on Baja Ferries’ La Paz-Topolobampo sailings. Monday through Friday, check-in is at 12:00, departure at 13:30 and arrival at 20:30, which lands after the 7:11 p.m. La Paz sunset on June 15. The Saturday sailing checks in at 21:30, departs at 23:00 and arrives at 08:00 the next morning.

Every figure here is an official normal from Mexico’s national weather service, the Servicio Meteorologico Nacional (SMN), measured at its own La Paz station (03074, in town) over 1991-2020. That is a working thermometer, not a grid-cell reanalysis, and it sits close enough to speak for the malecón and the bay. June averages a 99.3°F high, a 67.8°F low and 0.02 inches of precipitation. On an island beach the air can read differently.
By the SMN’s own count, 0.8 days in an average June record measurable rain, so fewer than one. The station sheet doesn’t publish where it sets the threshold for a rain day, so read that count as the SMN’s definition and not as something to line up against a US tally. In a day’s terms, skies stay clear on all but a rare afternoon, and the rain jacket can stay home.

At 81.4°F you can stay in the water for a long swim or a snorkel without much of a chill. First thing in the morning the water will sit slightly under the figure, since it is built from daily highs.
Our sources carry no wind or swell series for June, so we make no claim about chop or visibility. We also did not read any Pacific storm-season data. The operator’s morning call on sea conditions and the National Hurricane Center’s eastern Pacific outlook are the two checks to make before you book a boat.
How busy is La Paz in June? Crowds and prices

Isla Espíritu Santo, in the Bay of La Paz, has been a national park since 2007 and forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The malecón, La Paz’s seafront promenade, is the town-side stop and the place the SMN thermometer speaks for. We have no verified fees, boat prices or opening hours for either, so ask the operator when you book.
The sea sits at 81.4°F while the afternoon air averages 99.3°F, a gap of 17.9°F. That gap decides how the day runs. The swim is the cooling-off, and the malecón walk belongs to the early and late hours.
A stroll along the malecón costs nothing. We didn’t verify entry fees for any other site, so a full list of free things to do in June isn’t ours to give.

Day one, on the water. Sunrise on June 15 is 5:31 a.m., so start on the malecón around then, while the air is still near the 67.8°F average low. Book the earliest boat the operator runs toward Isla Espíritu Santo. Keep the swim for the middle of the day, with the sea at 81.4°F and the air near 99.3°F. Rest indoors in the afternoon, then return to the waterfront for sunset at 7:11 p.m.
Day two, in town. Take another early walk on the malecón, spend the 99.3°F afternoon indoors over a long lunch and a cool room, and go back out near dusk. With 0.8 rain days on average, a change in the weather most likely means one afternoon at most: swap the days, and put town on the wet one and the boat on the dry.

June’s 99.3°F high is 3.8°F above May and 1.5°F below July. The larger jump is at night: the low climbs 5.4°F from May to June and another 7.0°F to July’s 74.8°F. Rain moves from 0.02 inches to 0.46 inches, and rain days from 0.8 to 3.4.
Moving four weeks earlier to May gains a 3.8°F cooler afternoon and nights 5.4°F cooler, and costs 4.5°F of sea warmth (76.9°F). Moving four weeks later to July gains water 2.1°F warmer (83.5°F) and costs 3.4 rain days instead of 0.8, plus a 74.8°F low. Neither shift brings whale sharks back, since that season ends April 30.
Is June a good time to visit La Paz?
Yes for a swimmer who plans around the afternoons: warm water, dry days, light until 7:11 p.m. No for anyone who came for whale sharks, or who wants a mild midday outdoors, since the average high is 99.3°F. The U.S. State Department rates Baja California Sur at Level 2, exercise increased caution due to terrorism and crime, with no specific restrictions on travel for U.S. government employees in the state (advisory reissued May 29, 2026).
