Orlando in November: Weather, Crowds, Prices and the Manatee Springs

Those are NOAA’s 1991-2020 normals for the station at Orlando International Airport, and they describe a month warm enough for water rides and dry enough to plan an outdoor day around.

What the month takes back is light. On November 15 the sun clears the horizon at 6:47 a.m. Eastern and is gone by 5:33 p.m., which leaves 10 hours 46 minutes to work with. Orlando runs on Eastern time, an hour ahead of Pensacola and the western Panhandle. And the Atlantic hurricane season stays open until November 30, past the mid-August to mid-October stretch that carries most of the activity.

Two kinds of number sit in the tables below. The 1991-2020 normals come from NOAA’s station at Orlando International Airport, a physical thermometer beside a physical rain gauge. The water temperatures come from USGS gauges read on one day, September 11, 2026, and they are instantaneous readings rather than monthly averages. Where the two get compared, the comparison says so.

Orlando weather in November: average highs, lows and rain days

Those figures are published by NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information, which computes monthly normals over 1991-2020 for station USW00012815 at Orlando International Airport: 78.3°F average high, 58.2°F average low, 1.79 inches of precipitation. A station record is one instrument at one fixed spot beside the runways, so it reads airport asphalt rather than a shaded spring basin or a hotel courtyard. Where a page serves a modeled grid cell instead, the overnight figure in particular can land somewhere else, so the source name belongs next to the number.

Three days in an average November record at least 0.10 inch, and half a day records an inch or more, so a real soaking turns up in roughly one November in two. Measurable rain lands about one day in ten. The month also opens Florida’s dry season, which runs through April, and the 1.79-inch total is barely half of October’s 3.46 inches. That is a month you plan outdoors with a poncho in the bag, not one you rebuild around the sky.

The 20.1°F between the average low and the average high is the packing problem. A 58.2°F start feels genuinely cool in shorts at seven in the morning, and the same day averages 78.3°F by mid-afternoon. One long-sleeve layer that folds into a daypack covers both ends, plus sleeves again for a 5:30 p.m. table outdoors. Pack a swimsuit anyway: the park water rides and the springs both run all month.

How warm is Orlando in November? The 78°F day and the 58°F night

The month’s two published poles are 78.3°F and 58.2°F, 20.1°F apart. October keeps a tighter day, 84.7°F over 66.2°F for 18.5°F of spread, and December widens it to 20.9°F between 73.8°F and 52.9°F. Orlando has no coastline of its own, so the water figures here come from spring gauges instead of a sea surface, and a gauge reading is a single instant, measured on September 11, 2026, which sits a little above what a 24-hour average would give.

In practice the day splits in two. A 58°F queue at opening wants long sleeves, and by two in the afternoon the same layer is in the bag. Soaking rides that feel like mercy in October’s 84.7°F afternoons read colder at 78.3°F, so put them in the middle of the day rather than the last hour. Once the sun goes at 5:33 p.m., the evening drifts back toward the low.

We could not read a monthly hotel-rate series or an occupancy series for Orlando, so no month gets crowned cheapest or busiest here. Hurricane season closes on November 30. The family school-holiday crush that fills the theme parks belongs to March, and there is no single spring-break week, because university calendars spread across that month. November sits after the one and before the other, in the opening weeks of the dry season.

Firm dates are what unlock the bookings. Disney and Universal price tickets dynamically by date, so any amount printed here would be stale within weeks and the operator’s own calendar is the only usable quote. Flights and the train behave the same way: Brightline covers the 235 miles from Miami in roughly three and a half hours, with departures about every two hours, and its fares move by date and class. Lock the bed and the train once the dates stop moving.

Orange County, where Orlando and the parks sit, levies a 6.0% transient rental tax, filed and paid alongside the 6% state sales tax, per form DR-15TDT from the Florida Department of Revenue. The nightly rate therefore arrives 12% heavier than the number you booked. We read no resort-fee figure for any property, so none is quoted, and what a Florida week costs handles the rest of the budget line.

With 10 hours 46 minutes of daylight, the money that changes this month is the money that buys time inside it. A LYNX single ride costs $2.00, or $1.00 at the discount fare, and a transfer is free. Things to do in Orlando in November: Wekiwa Springs, Blue Spring and Rock Springs

November is the month the air and the springs meet in the middle. Wekiwa Springs read 75.6°F on the USGS gauge on September 11, 2026, and a spring fed by the Upper Floridan aquifer holds close to that year-round while the air moves around it. October’s 84.7°F afternoons make that water a shock, December’s 73.8°F average high makes it the warmest thing in sight, and November’s 78.3°F sits 2.7°F above it. The cooling river is also what begins drawing manatees toward spring runs in winter, per the Southwest Florida Water Management District.

Wekiwa Springs State Park, the closest to the city, counts 325 parking spaces, one designated swimming area, one canoe, kayak and tube launch, 13.7 miles of hiking trail, 15.9 miles of paddling trail and 1,435 feet of boardwalk in the state’s 2024 facilities inventory. Blue Spring State Park, the winter manatee spring, has 187 parking spaces, 3,050 feet of boardwalk, three observation platforms and six cabins. Rock Springs, the tubing run at Kelly Park, read 75.0°F on the same September day. Silver Springs, the glass-bottom-boat park, is the giant of the group at 1,686 spaces and three launches.

Those parking counts are why the popular springs turn cars away on a summer morning, and why a cooler month loosens the whole plan. Blue Spring’s gauge read 74.3°F and 168 cubic feet per second on September 11, 2026, and the spring will not cool as the calendar turns. No entrance fee and no opening hour appears here, and the reason is a reading failure rather than an absence: floridastateparks.org answers 403 to machine reads, and we verified no per-spring manatee count either. The walking needs no boat and no reservation, at least: 3,050 feet of boardwalk and three platforms at Blue Spring, 1,435 feet at Wekiwa, 13.7 miles of trail. Orlando in November: a two-day itinerary

Day one runs on the morning. Sunrise is 6:47 a.m. Eastern on November 15, and the 325-space lot at Wekiwa is the reason to arrive by eight rather than by eleven. Swim while the air climbs toward 78.3°F, within 3°F of the 75.6°F the gauge read, then take the trails: 13.7 miles of hiking, 15.9 miles of paddling from a single launch. Turn for the car by four, because 5:33 p.m. ends the light, and give the evening to a lit park queue.

Day two goes north to Blue Spring, where the inventory counts 3,050 feet of boardwalk, three observation platforms, six cabins and 187 parking spaces, so the early start applies again. Manatees move in as the surrounding river cools while the spring holds near the 74.3°F it read in September. Line the three up and the trade shows. October runs 84.7°F over 66.2°F with 3.46 inches of rain across 5.3 wet days. November drops to 78.3°F over 58.2°F with 1.79 inches across 3.0 wet days. December settles at 73.8°F over 52.9°F with 2.48 inches across 3.7 days. The spring gauges refuse to follow any of that: Wekiwa’s 75.6°F reading sits 9.1°F below October’s average afternoon, 2.7°F below November’s, and 1.8°F above December’s.

Shift four weeks earlier and you buy 6.4°F of afternoon and longer evenings, paying with 1.67 more inches of rain, 2.3 more wet days, and a date inside the stretch that carries most hurricane activity. Shift four weeks later and the afternoon gives up another 4.5°F, the night 5.3°F, and the spring starts reading warmer than the air above it, the arrangement manatees are looking for. Is November a good time to visit Orlando?

Yes for most trips, with one caveat about the clock. For a warm outdoor day, a swimmable spring and a low chance of losing an afternoon to weather, 78.3°F highs, 1.79 inches of rain and three wet days make a strong case. For anyone counting on twelve hours of light, a swim at eight in the evening or a late outdoor dinner in shirtsleeves, 10 hours 46 minutes and a 58.2°F night answer no.

Which month to prefer depends on what you are missing. For heat and light, October’s 84.7°F afternoons and 66.2°F nights are the nearest substitute, at the price of nearly twice the rain across 5.3 wet days. For manatees packed into a spring run, December’s 73.8°F average high is the month that cools the river enough to push them in, while the spring itself holds close to the 74.3°F it read in September. Settle the airport before the itinerary.
