Past midnight on Paradise Island, the slot machines keep chiming under the lights while a dealer at a blackjack table flips cards across the felt and a craps table erupts in cheers. Gambling in the Bahamas is a resort affair, set among lagoons, towers and restaurants rather than in a separate strip of neon. Three resorts, on Paradise Island, Cable Beach and North Bimini, hold the casinos worth knowing about.

Are there casinos in the Bahamas?
Yes, the Bahamas has full resort casinos, and each one belongs to a single island and a single resort: Atlantis on Paradise Island, Baha Mar on Cable Beach in Nassau, and Resorts World Bimini on North Bimini. Gambling here is part of a larger vacation, so the casino floor sits a short stroll from pools, restaurants, shows and, in two cases, the beach.
What you find inside depends on the resort. Atlantis is the table-game house, with a deep list of classic games and a schedule built around lessons. Baha Mar leans toward sports betting, poker and big events. Bimini is the quieter, smaller-island option, where the casino is the only one on the island and the setting is a marina and a beachfront rather than a skyline.
What the games look like at Atlantis
The Atlantis Casino has 80 gaming tables, with Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Baccarat and Mini-Baccarat all on the floor. Slot machines on the main floor run around the clock, so a late arrival still finds something to play. The casino also drew attention in Casino Player magazine’s 2026 Best of Gaming Awards, where Atlantis won more than 15 awards, including Best Casino and Best Blackjack.
If you have never sat at a table, the free gaming lessons with a dealer are the easiest way in. They happen in the casino every day at 3 PM, which makes a pleasant late-afternoon hour before dinner. Players who plan to stay a while can sign up for a player’s card at Casino Guest Services and earn perks such as free play, comped stays and invitations to VIP tournaments.
Baha Mar: sports, poker and a calendar of events
The Baha Mar Casino on Cable Beach offers live sports betting by William Hill, which suits anyone who wants a game on a big screen with a wager attached. Poker has a headline moment here too. WSOP Paradise is scheduled at Baha Mar from December 2 to 17, 2026, with $120 million in guarantees, so the casino and its card rooms are busy that stretch of December.
Around the gaming floor the resort keeps a full social calendar. The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival takes place at Baha Mar from October 21st to 25th, the Baha Mar Cup tennis event runs from December 10th to 13th, and a New Year’s Eve celebration features a live performance by Ludacris. Jon Batiste’s Jazz Club, opened in 2025, has nightly live shows for the hours between the tables.
Resorts World Bimini: the island casino
The Resorts World Bimini Casino opened in June 2013 and is the only casino on North Bimini Island. It sits inside a 750-acre beachfront resort with six restaurants, around 480 townhouses and villas, and the largest marina in the Bahamas. A night here feels different from Nassau: you step from the casino toward the docks rather than into a tower lobby.
Where are they?
The casinos are in three places: Paradise Island, Cable Beach on New Providence, and North Bimini. Nothing is shared between them, so you pick the island that fits the trip and the casino comes with the resort.
Atlantis, Paradise Island
The casino spans a 7-acre lagoon and links The Royal and The Coral, the two resort towers it connects. Walking the floor means passing from one part of the resort into another, so it is easy to wander in between dinner and a show. Table games on the main floor run from 10 AM to 4 AM daily, a long window that suits both a late lunch session and a post-dinner one.
Two quieter corners are worth knowing. Cleitos offers elevated table gaming in a private or semi-private setting just off the casino floor, for players who want more room around the table. Sea Glass in The Cove has table games Thursday through Saturday from 11 AM to 2 AM, a weekend-evening alternative on a different part of the property.
| Atlantis gaming | Hours |
|---|---|
| Main floor slot machines | 24 hours daily |
| Main floor table games | 10 AM to 4 AM daily |
| Table games at Sea Glass, The Cove | Thursday to Saturday, 11 AM to 2 AM |
| Free gaming lessons | Daily at 3 PM |
Baha Mar, Cable Beach
Baha Mar is a 1,000-acre resort complex on Cable Beach in Nassau, on the island of New Providence. It is owned by Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and opened in April 2017 with only the Grand Hyatt. The SLS followed in November 2017 and the Rosewood in June 2018, bringing the total to three hotels and 2,200 rooms, plus 284 private residences.
The casino is one part of a resort that also has a Tournament Players Club golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus and the Baha Bay water park on 15 beachfront acres next door. Hotel guests have unlimited access to Baha Bay, and the resort offers complimentary paddle boards, kayaks, water hammocks and floating lounges. Children ages 5 and under eat free at its restaurants, which makes it workable for a family where the adults slip away for an evening.
Resorts World Bimini, North Bimini
The resort is on North Bimini Island, 42 miles east of Miami, Florida. For a short stretch, a ship called the MS Bimini Superfast carried passengers from Miami to the island, but that service was discontinued. Several major cruise lines now dock at the pier, which was the first phase of a three-phase development plan for the island.
What are the rules?
The rules that matter most for a casino trip are Bahamian law, which applies in the resort as much as on the street. Drugs and firearms are the two areas where visitors get into serious trouble, and the penalties do not soften because you are on vacation.
Drugs, including marijuana
Marijuana and all products containing its derivatives, such as CBD and THC, are not legal in the Bahamas. A prescription or medical card does not exempt you, because Bahamian law makes no distinction between medical and recreational use. Possession or use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy, is a criminal offense that can result in time in prison.
Drug violators are regularly arrested, even for small quantities, and anyone arrested should expect to spend at least one night, and possibly longer, in custody. All persons 16 or older are tried as adults in court. Bahamian law does not include a right to a public defender in lower courts, so any legal representation is at the visitor’s expense.
Firearms and ammunition
Firearms and ammunition are illegal in the Bahamas, including small quantities brought by mistake in carry-on bags or luggage. Police strictly enforce these laws, even at the airport as travelers are leaving. Visitors with firearms or ammunition can face arrest, jail time and fines.
U.S. citizens have been detained for several days or more after authorities found firearms or ammunition, which prevented them from leaving. A forgotten box of cartridges in a travel bag is enough to turn the end of a trip into a court matter, so check every pocket and compartment before heading to the airport.
Casino house rules
Beyond the law, the casino itself sets its own conditions, and they are best learned at the door or at Casino Guest Services, where the player’s card is also handled. The lessons at Atlantis are a low-pressure way to learn how each game is run on that floor before you put money down.
Good to know before you go
The U.S. State Department rates the Bahamas Level 2, “Exercise increased caution”, and says most crime occurs in Nassau on New Providence and in Freeport on Grand Bahama.
Casino trips in the Bahamas run alongside the Atlantic hurricane season, which lasts from June 1 to November 30, so a visit in those months belongs on a calendar with that in mind. Baha Mar’s Stay a Little Longer offer gives hotel guests 15% off and a $100 Resort Credit, which can make an extra night easier to justify. Keep legal items in your bag and leave anything illegal at home.
