Flights from the US to Jamaica: Which Cities Fly Nonstop to Montego Bay and Kingston

Six US airlines reach Montego Bay without a change of plane, and the airport’s own route table lists them city by city: thirty airline-city pairs from the United States, nineteen printed as daily, nine as weekly, two tagged seasonal. Kingston’s published US list is much shorter. No nonstop is listed from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Phoenix or San Diego, so most western markets and many secondary cities still connect.

Which of the two airports you book shapes the whole first day. Montego Bay serves the resort coast and Negril. Kingston serves the Blue Mountains, Port Antonio and the east. They sit on opposite sides of the island, and landing at the wrong one costs roughly half a day on the road, which is not a trivial half day here: see our verdict on driving and getting around.

Fly into Montego Bay for Negril, Ocho Rios and the resort coast, into Kingston for the Blue Mountains, Port Antonio and the east, and read the frequency printed next to each city before you assume a route runs every day.

Go for: the airport that matches your base. Montego Bay for the north-west coast, Kingston for the mountains and the east.

Think twice before: reading weekly as seasonal. A weekly route runs through the year at one flight a week, which fixes your travel day rather than your travel month.

Nonstop flights from the US to Montego Bay: every airline and its cities

American has the longest daily list. The table prints Charlotte, Chicago O’Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami, New York JFK and Philadelphia, all as daily service. JetBlue is daily from four cities: Boston, Fort Lauderdale, New York JFK and Orlando. Between them those two carriers cover the Northeast, south Florida and two of the largest connecting hubs in the country.

Southwest lists the widest spread and the most mixed frequencies. Baltimore, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando are daily. Chicago Midway, Nashville and Houston George Bush Intercontinental are weekly. Kansas City and St Louis carry a seasonal tag. United flies Chicago and Newark daily, with Denver, Washington Dulles and Houston George Bush Intercontinental weekly, which puts two Houston services from two different airlines through the same airport.

Delta prints three daily cities and two weekly ones: Atlanta, Minneapolis/St Paul and New York JFK daily, Boston and Detroit weekly. Frontier appears twice, Atlanta daily and Philadelphia weekly. Read as a whole, the map is strongest on the East Coast, in the South and at the big central hubs, and it does not reach the West Coast at all.

The airport publishes a frequency, not a year-round or seasonal label. Weekly means one flight a week, so it changes which day you can travel rather than which months. Only the two Southwest cities below carry a seasonal tag. Where a route carries no seasonal tag, we do not guess: check the operating dates with the airline before booking.

Montego Bay or Kingston: which airport for Negril, Ocho Rios, the Blue Mountains and Port Antonio

Montego Bay is the arrival airport for the resort coast. It is the natural door for Negril, for Montego Bay itself and for Ocho Rios along the north coast, and it holds every one of the thirty US services listed above.

Kingston (Norman Manley) is the door to the other Jamaica: the capital, the coffee country of the Blue Mountains, and the eastern road toward Port Antonio. Its US service is far thinner. American flies from Miami, JetBlue from Fort Lauderdale and New York JFK, Caribbean Airlines from New York JFK and Delta from Atlanta. That list is indicative rather than settled, so confirm it on the airline’s own schedule before you build a trip around it.

The two airports sit on opposite sides of the island, and the mistake is expensive in time rather than money: about half a day on the road to undo. If you land at the far end from your room, plan the crossing as a travel day and not as an errand. Getting around Jamaica sets out the coach, driver and taxi options, and the driving page covers the self-drive decision.

Breeze’s announced Tampa to Montego Bay flight, dated December 19, 2026

Breeze Airways has announced a Tampa to Montego Bay service with a start date of December 19, 2026. It is an announcement, not an operating route, and it does not appear in the airport’s own route table. Tampa currently has no nonstop listed there.

If it starts as announced, it adds a seventh US carrier at Montego Bay and a Florida departure point beyond Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando. Until the first departure flies, treat the frequency and the operating window as the airline’s to publish, and check the schedule directly before you book connecting travel around it.

Montego Bay airport arrivals and transfers: how much daylight is left

The flight is the short part of the arrival. After immigration and bags comes the transfer, and that is where the hours go. Sort the paperwork before you fly with the entry guide, and decide the ride in advance using the transfer page, which compares pre-booked drivers, resort shuttles and the coach.

A midday landing usually leaves enough daylight for the transfer, which matters more than any beach time it might buy. An afternoon on the water is realistic for Montego Bay and sometimes for Negril. For Ocho Rios, the south coast or Port Antonio, a midday arrival means getting there in daylight and starting the holiday tomorrow morning.

Weigh the arrival hour against the fare before you book the cheaper late flight. A service that lands at the end of the day costs you the transfer in the dark, and it pushes the first dinner to whatever your base can serve after nine. Where to stay covers which bases absorb a late arrival easily.

Jamaica flight routes by season: how the map changes and how to compare dates

Winter is when the map is at its widest. The two Southwest cities carrying a seasonal tag, Kansas City and St Louis, are the ones that come and go with the calendar, so a map that is right in February may be missing those lines in September. Everything else on the table is published as daily or weekly, which is a statement about how often the flight goes rather than about which months it runs.

Weekly services deserve one extra look. One departure a week fixes the shape of the trip at seven nights or fourteen, and a missed connection has no same-day rescue on that city pair. Denver, Nashville, Detroit and both Houston services all fall into that group.

We print no fares here, because what you pay turns on your origin city, on school holidays and on how far ahead you book, and any figure would be stale within weeks. Compare your own dates directly, and read the summer and autumn calendar alongside them: the month-by-month page and the hurricane file explain what the weather does to those weeks, and the cost guide handles the budget.

The last word

The single most useful line on the airport’s route table is the small word next to each city. Southwest’s Chicago Midway and Nashville flights, United’s Denver service, Delta’s Boston and Detroit lines: all of them run, and all of them run once a week. Reading that as summer-only writes off a route that exists, and reading it as daily sends you to a booking page with one departure day on it.

Get the airport right before anything else. Sangster International (MBJ) puts you on the north-west coast with the resort strip and Negril in front of you, while Norman Manley (KIN) opens the mountains and the eastern road, and a booking that mixes the two turns day one into a crossing of the island. Pick the door that faces the Jamaica you came for, and the first evening still smells of somebody’s jerk drum instead of the inside of a van.

  • Method note: the airport table publishes a FREQUENCY (daily, weekly, seasonal), not a year-round or seasonal classification. Weekly means one flight a week through the year. Where the source is silent on whether a route pauses, we say so and send you to the airline rather than guess.
  • Editorial note: an earlier version of this page was built on a general encyclopedic route list and carried three errors. It gave Houston Hobby instead of Houston George Bush Intercontinental, credited Frontier with cities it does not serve, and filed weekly services as seasonal. It was rebuilt from the airport’s own table on Sep 3, 2026.
  • Editorial note: no fares, no flight times and no transfer durations are printed here, because none appear in our sources. The route map and its frequencies are re-checked every quarter, since Caribbean schedules are rebuilt twice a year.
