FLORIDA · DE LEON SPRINGS · NOVEMBER
In November the average high at De Leon Springs falls to 77.8°F, down from 84.4°F in October, and the month’s rain total drops to 1.73 inches. For a trip built around a spring swim, a shaded walk and an afternoon paddle, those two figures make the case for going now. Both come from NOAA’s official 1991-2020 normals, read at a gauge some distance from the spring itself. The weather section below names it.
Days are shorter by mid-month: 10 hours 44 minutes of light on November 15, with sunset at 5:32 p.m. Eastern. The Atlantic hurricane season also runs until November 30, as our Florida orientation notes, so a refundable booking stays sensible to the last day of the month.

NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information publish the official normals we use, and their thermometer stands away from the spring. It is the Orlando Executive gauge, station USW00012841, the same gauge used for Blue Spring, about 15 km (9 miles) south in the same DeLand country. Every figure here is a station normal, a real thermometer averaged over thirty years rather than a grid-cell reanalysis. At that gauge November averages a high of 77.8°F, a low of 60.1°F and 1.73 inches of precipitation.
Measurable rain, at least 0.10 inch, falls on 3.0 days in an average November: about one day in ten. Spread over a four-day trip, that works out to less than half a wet day on average. Plan outdoor mornings freely and keep one indoor fallback in your pocket for the odd gray afternoon.
Between the 60.1°F average low and the 77.8°F average high, a November day swings 17.7°F. Pack a fleece or light jacket for an early start, shorts or a light shirt for early afternoon, and a dry change of clothes for after a swim. A towel and a warm top in the car matter more now than they did in October.
On November 15 the sun rises at 6:47 a.m. and sets at 5:32 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, for about 10 hours 44 minutes of daylight. Clocks fall back on November 1 in 2026, so darkness comes an hour earlier than it did in late October. A paddle launched at 3 p.m. has roughly two and a half hours before sunset.
How warm is De Leon Springs in November?
At the Orlando Executive gauge, a November day runs from a 60.1°F average low to a 77.8°F average high. The spread widens through the season: 16.1°F in October, 17.7°F in November, 18.6°F in December. We could not verify a water-temperature reading for the spring or the nearest coast, so we print none. If you meet a sea figure elsewhere, check whether it averages daily maxima, since those read a little warmer than a 24-hour mean.
For swimmers, timing matters most. At an 8 a.m. arrival, the air sits near the 60°F end of the range, so long sleeves at the car and a quick change after the water make sense. By early afternoon, with the air close to 78°F, climbing out of the basin feels comfortable, and that is the window we would pick for the swim.
Our sources carry no count of freezing nights at the Orlando Executive gauge for November, so we cannot say how often frost reaches the spring. December’s average low of 54.5°F sits 5.6°F below November’s, if you want a sense of where the season is heading.
How busy is De Leon Springs in November: crowds and prices
November opens Florida’s dry season, and inside the month the calendar peak is Thanksgiving week: holiday weeks are the state’s annual busy spells, per our Florida orientation. We found no occupancy series or monthly room-rate data for the De Leon Springs area, so we crown no November week cheap or expensive.
Without booking-lead data, we give no fixed number of weeks. Treat Thanksgiving week as the one to reserve as soon as your dates are set, and compare flexible and fixed rates for the rest of the month. Where you fly in often moves the total more than the room does. Our Florida flights guide lays out the airports, and where to stay in Florida covers bases.
We could not verify the local lodging-tax rate, so we give no percentage. Ask for the all-in nightly total, taxes and any resort fee included, before you confirm. Our Florida trip-cost guide shows how those extras add up.
A refundable room rate costs more, and in November it covers the last weeks of Atlantic hurricane season, officially ending November 30. That extra is where we would spend money this month. Pair it with a quick look at the tropics the week you fly.
Things to do in De Leon Springs in November

With a 77.8°F average high and only 3.0 rain days, a morning walk, a midday swim and an afternoon paddle all fit into one November day. In October the same plan meets 84.4°F afternoons and 4.7 rain days, and you spend more of the day looking for shade.
De Leon Springs State Park holds the spring basin and its swimming area. We could not verify its current entrance fee, opening hours or parking capacity, so we print none. Check the Florida State Parks listing the week you go. Blue Spring State Park, about 15 km (9 miles) south, shares the same NOAA gauge and makes an easy second stop. Our manatee guide covers its wildlife season, and things to do in Florida widens the list.
A spring keeps a steady water temperature all year, while the air around it follows the calendar. On a November morning near 60.1°F, the contrast between water and air is sharper than on an October morning near 68.3°F. By afternoon the gap narrows as the air climbs toward 77.8°F.
We could not verify a free-entry day at De Leon Springs State Park or Blue Spring in November, so we name none. Look at both parks’ event calendars before you set your dates.
De Leon Springs day trip in November
Sunrise on the 15th is 6:47 a.m., and the air starts near the 60.1°F average low. Reach the gate at opening (confirm the hour the week before, since we could not verify it), when an early car has the best shot at a space on a Saturday or Thanksgiving weekend. Walk the shaded trail first, while it is cool. Around 11 a.m., as the air warms toward its high, change for the swim.
After lunch, launch the paddle or drive the 15 km to Blue Spring, and plan to be off the water by 5 p.m., half an hour before the 5:32 p.m. sunset. If one of November’s 3.0 rain days turns up, trade the paddle for an indoor stop from our Florida things-to-do guide. If a cool front pushes the air well below the 77.8°F average, skip the swim, keep the walk, and pack the jacket for the drive home.
De Leon Springs in November vs October and December
| Normal, 1991-2020 (NOAA, Orlando Executive) | October | November | December |
|---|---|---|---|
| Average high | 84.4°F | 77.8°F | 73.1°F |
| Average low | 68.3°F | 60.1°F | 54.5°F |
| Precipitation | 3.24 in | 1.73 in | 2.28 in |
| Days with 0.10 inch or more | 4.7 | 3.0 | 3.4 |
From October to November the average high drops 6.6°F and the low 8.2°F. From November to December they drop another 4.7°F and 5.6°F. November is the driest of the three, with 1.73 inches against 3.24 in October and 2.28 in December, and the fewest rain days at 3.0. We could not verify a water-temperature series for any of the three months, so we compare air and rain only.
Moving four weeks earlier into October buys warmer swims and longer evenings in exchange for 1.51 more inches of rain and 1.7 more rain days. Moving four weeks later into December brings cooler 54.5°F mornings and an extra 0.4 rain day on average, and sets you after hurricane season’s November 30 close.
Is November a good time to visit De Leon Springs?
Yes, for walkers, paddlers and anyone who wants a full outdoor day without October’s heat: 77.8°F afternoons and 3.0 rain days make that easy. It suits cold-sensitive swimmers less well, because mornings average 60.1°F and the best swim comes after lunch.
If warm water from dawn is the priority, take October, when lows average 68.3°F and highs 84.4°F, and accept its 4.7 rain days. Our October page covers that trade in full.
Of the three months around it, November alone combines the lowest rain total, 1.73 inches, with afternoons still close to 78°F.
The last word
Book the dates first, refundable if they touch the final days of hurricane season, then plan the swim for the warm hours after lunch. The weather rarely gets in the way. An inch-plus downpour visits only 0.3 days in an average November, roughly one November in three, so the jacket in your bag will see more use than the umbrella.
