UNIVERSAL ORLANDO · THE BOOKING GUIDE · SITEMAP READ SEP 17, 2026
Universal Orlando’s own sitemap, read on September 17, 2026, lists three theme parks and one water park: Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Epic Universe and Volcano Bay. Across them it lists 60 rides and attractions, 16 shows and 15 character encounters. Those are counts of pages the operator publishes, so they tell you how much is on offer and nothing about how many people turn up. No attendance figure is cited anywhere below, because none of it was available to read.
Booking a Universal trip is four decisions taken in an order: how many park days, which gates, which month, and which bed. Most visitors fly into MCO, and the airfare follows the dates, which means the park days come first and everything else is fitted around them. The month is where the climate record earns a vote: NOAA’s 1991-2020 normals for the Orlando airport station separate a 1.79-inch November from an 8.05-inch June.

BOOKING AT A GLANCE · UNIVERSAL ORLANDO
Commit the park days first, aim them at November rather than June, and settle the bed last: the resort lists three theme parks, one water park and 60 rides and attractions, and publishes no ticket rate stable enough to quote.
THREE THEME PARKS · ONE WATER PARK · SITEMAP READ SEP 17, 2026
Go for: a resort that books in one clean sequence: 60 listed rides and attractions across four gates, 16 shows, and a November week that averages 1.79 inches of rain.
Think twice before: locking June or September nights you cannot move. June averages 8.05 inches of rain and September 10 is the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season.

Alongside the rides, that same sitemap listed 360 dining pages and 86 shopping pages on September 17, 2026. Volume like that matters less for choosing a gate than for pacing a day: eating and shopping inside the resort is never the scarce part of a Universal trip, and the thing genuinely worth reserving early is the park day itself.
What to book first at Universal Orlando
Take it in this order: park days, flight, hotel, then anything sold inside the gates. Park days fix the dates and the dates price the flight, so reversing those two is how people end up with a cheap Tuesday arrival and a wasted afternoon. A hotel night is the easiest of the four to move, which is why it waits. Anything sold behind the turnstiles goes last, because Universal publishes no ticket price, Express Pass rule or opening hour as a stable, citable schedule, and a plan built on an undated figure is a plan built twice.
Which Universal Orlando park to choose
Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Epic Universe are the three theme parks. Volcano Bay is the water park, and the sitemap counts it separately. The 60 rides and attractions sit spread across all four, with 16 shows and 15 character encounters listed beside them, read on September 17, 2026. What that inventory cannot tell you is which gate suits your group: it counts what exists, not what anyone enjoyed.
Four gates asks for four park days if each is to be unhurried, and few families have four to give. Three theme parks plus a slow day makes a five-night stay once the arrival evening and the departure morning are counted. Add Volcano Bay and the trip reaches six nights. Orlando’s other operators compete for the same week, as the Florida theme-park overview lays out, so a Universal-only itinerary of five nights is the version that gets through the list without a second trip.
On a long weekend, take two gates and leave the rest. Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure sit side by side, which makes them the pair that spends the least of your day in transit. Epic Universe is a theme park in its own right and wants a full day rather than an afternoon bolted onto another. Volcano Bay is the first thing to cut from a two-day plan, and in January it is the easiest to cut anyway, with average lows of 49.5°F.
When to book Universal Orlando
June is the wettest month in the 1991-2020 normals for the airport station: 8.05 inches of rain, an average high of 90.8°F, an average low of 71.6°F. July runs hotter, 92.0°F by day with 7.46 inches. June 1 also opens the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs to November 30 and peaks on September 10 (NOAA). Booking summer nights that cannot be changed is the one gamble in this trip that has a published date attached to it.
November averages 1.79 inches of rain with a 78.3°F high and a 58.2°F low, the driest and mildest combination in the same record. The trade shows up in the light: December 15 gives about 10 hours 23 minutes of daylight against roughly 14 hours on June 15, so a late park evening in the dry season happens after dark. November also falls inside the hurricane season until the 30th, which argues for refundable nights even in the good month. Our wider Florida timing verdict sets the same two seasons statewide.
Where to stay at Universal Orlando: on-site hotel or in the city
The sitemap that lists the parks also lists the resort’s own hotels, read the same day. What it hands over is inventory: which properties exist and which gate each one sits beside. Nightly rates were not found there in a stable, citable form, and the opening hours that any shuttle or early-entry claim would depend on are not published as a citable schedule either. So the choice below is argued on distance and on tax, the two things that can be stated with a date.
Walking distance to a gate mainly buys back the middle of the day. A room you can reach on foot turns a July afternoon of 92.0°F average highs into two usable halves instead of one long slog, and it deletes the parking hunt at the start and the shuttle queue at the end. With young children, that midday return is often the whole argument, and our Florida-with-kids guide takes the same line across the state.
Proximity changes nothing on the bill’s back page. Every hotel night in Orange County carries a 6.0% transient rental tax, filed and paid with the 6% state sales tax (Florida Department of Revenue, form DR-15TDT), whether the pillow is on resort property or out on International Drive. It does not hold back the 8.05 inches that fall in June, and it grants no exemption from a hurricane season that stays open until November 30.
Take the on-site room when the stay is short, when two or three park days carry the whole trip, or when you would rather not rent a car at MCO. Take the city base when Orlando gets a full week, when you are mixing Universal with Disney or SeaWorld, or when the vacation continues to the coast afterward. In that second case a car does real work, and the getting-around guide covers the toll and parking layer that comes with it.
Universal Orlando ticket prices and park-hopper rules
No ticket rate is quoted here, and no park-hopper term, Express Pass rule or opening hour. Universal publishes none of them as a stable, citable schedule (sitemap read September 17, 2026). Ride height minimums are absent for a related reason: we hold no dated source for them, and we will not print one from memory. The budget question is therefore the one question this guide cannot answer with a source, and that is a decision taken in the open rather than a gap left by accident.
What the operator does publish, and what the sitemap gave up on September 17, 2026, is the shape of the place: three theme parks, one water park, 60 rides and attractions, 16 shows, 15 character encounters, 360 dining pages, 86 shopping pages. Counts like those survive printing because they describe what exists. A dollar figure printed in September would be describing a Tuesday.
For rates, hopper terms, hours and height rules, go to universalorlando.com the week you pay, and read the date on the page you land on. For the month, NOAA’s normals and our Orlando month-by-month page cover it. One number does belong on your notepad before checkout: the 6.0% Orange County tax stacked on the 6% state rate, which lands at the end of the booking and not in the nightly figure you were comparing.
