When is the best time to visit Taormina?
For most travelers, late spring and early summer are the answer. May and June pair warm afternoons with only a few rainy days, and the sea is on its way up. July is hotter and drier still, and it opens the stretch when the water is properly warm.
For the beach, plan on June to October. The sea passes 68°F (20°C) in June and stays above it through October. August is the warmest, with water near 79°F (26°C), and September is only a little cooler.
For sightseeing and walking, May and June are the comfortable pair. Afternoons reach 72°F (22°C) in May, and June has just three rainy days. April is cooler, with afternoons near 65°F (18°C), and it has about seven rainy days, so pack a rain layer.
The summer festival calendar adds a reason to come between late June and early October. Check the program before booking, since each year’s dates are set separately.

These are monthly averages, so the edges of the season vary. Early June can feel brisk on the first dip, and late October can feel pleasantly soft after the summer peak. The water holds its warmth into September, at 77°F (25°C), which makes September an easy month for a late beach trip.
Festivals and events in Taormina through the year
Taormina Arte International Festival
Early autumn had its own dates too. From September 30 to October 4, Palazzo Corvaja hosted La cena by Giuseppe Manfridi, and from October 8 to 10 the Casa del Cinema held a masterclass with Roberta Torre.
Film and books in June
The Taormina Film Festival was scheduled for June 10 to 14 in 2026. Taobuk, the Taormina International Book Festival, followed on June 20 and 21.

Summer concerts and awards
The Nations Award was scheduled for June 27, and Bryan Adams was due on June 30. July had the Dolce&Gabbana Alta Sartoria event on July 14, 15 and 16, and the Taormina Jazz Festival on July 26.
August brought Il Volo on August 22 and 23, and September had the first Taormina Music Award on September 19. Dates change from year to year, so confirm them before booking.
Feasts and the cherry festival
San Pancrazio is held on July 9 every year. Madonna della Rocca is celebrated on September 17, and Corpus Domini falls in May and early June.
A festival is also dedicated each year to the cherries of Sant’Alfio DOP, with early-summer blossoms displayed alongside the fruit. It fits a late spring or early summer trip.
