Roman Forum Tickets, Opening Hours and Tips for Your Visit

The Roman Forum was the administrative center of the city, and a 24-hour ticket that also covers the Colosseum and the Palatine costs €16. Through February 28, 2027, the park is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with last admission at 3:30 p.m., so the afternoon window is short.

How much are tickets to the Roman Forum?

The 24-hour ticket gives a single access to the Colosseum (first and second order, without the arena) and a single access to the Roman Forum and Palatine archaeological areas. The Full Experience ticket adds the underground and the arena of the Colosseum, and it stays valid for 2 consecutive days.

2026 prices:

  • 24-hour ticket, Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine: €16 full price · €2 reduced
  • Full Experience ticket: €22 full price · €2 reduced

Sales open 30 days before the visit date, and the Colosseum requires a reserved time slot. Tickets are sold on the official online ticketing site of the Colosseum park. Tickets are nominative, so keep an ID document at hand: it must be visible at the entrances.

The Forum Pass SUPER gives a single access to the Roman Forum, the Imperial Fora and the Palatine, without the Colosseum. It suits a visit that skips the amphitheater.

Entry is free on the first Sunday of the month and on November 4. Anyone adding the Colosseum should book a slot as soon as the 30-day window opens.

What are the opening hours of the Roman Forum?

Until February 28, 2027, the park opens at 8:30 a.m. and closes at 4:30 p.m. Last admission is at 3:30 p.m. The Roman Forum-Palatine area itself opens at 9:00 a.m. The park is closed on December 25, 2026 and January 1, 2027.

Hours change with the season. The schedule published for 2026 gives the pattern:

  • October 25, 2026 to February 28, 2027: opens 8:30 a.m. · closes 4:30 p.m. · last admission 3:30 p.m.
  • October 1 to 24, 2026: closes 5:30 p.m. · last admission 4:30 p.m.
  • March 29 to September 30, 2026: closes 7:15 p.m. · last admission 6:15 p.m.

When is the best time to visit the Roman Forum?

The operator advises visitors to avoid forming queues, and the surest way is to arrive at opening. In winter that means 8:30 a.m. for the park. With closing at 4:30 p.m., an afternoon start leaves little time, and the last entry at 3:30 p.m. is firm.

November has a high of 62°F (17°C) and about nine rainy days, and December has a high of 55°F (13°C) and ten. Bring a rain layer and shoes with grip for old paving stones.

In July the high reaches 88°F (31°C), and August is a little warmer at 89°F (32°C). From spring to September the park stays open until 7:15 p.m. in the 2026 schedule, so a late-afternoon visit is possible.
