Where to go in the Dolomites in June

Tre Cime di Lavaredo

The Tre Cime lie between the Province of Belluno and South Tyrol, inside the Tre Cime Nature Park. The area stretches between Auronzo di Cadore, Misurina and Dobbiaco, so June bases can be picked on any of those sides.

Seceda Meadows

The meadows lie beneath 8,264-foot (2,519 m) Mt. Seceda, in the Odle Group. They border the Rasciesa High Alp and the Mastlè Alpine Pasture, and in summer paths lead from here to mountain huts such as the Curona Hut.

Alpe di Siusi

The Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm) is described as the largest plateau in Europe.

Val Gardena

Val Gardena is in South Tyrol and has three villages. Ortisei has a pedestrian zone with shopping and food, S. Cristina sits at the foot of Sassolungo, and Selva di Val Gardena, at the foot of the Sella massif, is the highest village. The valley counts 19 miles (30 km) of hiking trails.

Cortina d’Ampezzo

Cortina is called the Queen of the Dolomites. In June it makes a good base for the weather, with a 69°F (21°C) afternoon, and Rifugio Averau, at Forcella Nuvolau, is one of the mountain huts around it.

Pragser Wildsee

The lake is in Prags/Braies, in the 3 Zinnen Dolomites region. The region has five holiday villages, and Toblach/Dobbiaco has the Three Peaks Nature Park visitor center.

What to do in the Dolomites in June

The Tre Cime loop hike

The loop runs from Rifugio Auronzo to Rifugio Lavaredo, Forcella Lavaredo and Rifugio Locatelli, then returns on a scenic loop. It is about 6 miles (9.5 to 10 km) and takes 3 to 4 hours, easy to moderate.

With 12 rainy days in June, start in the morning and keep the walk for a dry spell. Count on a full half day with stops at the huts.

Hiking the Seceda

In summer the Seceda becomes a hiking area with many paths to mountain huts, including the Curona Hut. The lifts are open from May to November, so June is inside the season.

Check the weather before going up, since the high trails are where a rainy day matters most. Choose a hut as the goal and let the day end there.

LUMEN, the Museum of Mountain Photography

LUMEN sits at 7,431 feet (2,265 m) on Plan de Corones, in a former upper cable car station. The museum covers 1,800 square meters, so it is a good indoor stop when the weather turns.

Dress for the altitude, because the mountain is cooler than the valley.

Cadini del Brenton with a free guided tour

The Cadini del Brenton are among the most iconic sights of the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park, and the park offers free guided tours. They run from July 5 to September 13, 2026, and daily in August.

The meeting point is the Infopoint Cadini in Valle del Mis, in Sospirolo, near the botanical garden Campanula morettiana. A trip in early July is the first chance to join one.

Auronzo-Misurina outdoors

Auronzo-Misurina has a 2-mile (3 km) summer toboggan run near Monte Agudo, and you can fish and canoe there. The Somadida forest can be explored on foot, on horseback or by bike, near the Palus San Marco nature reserve.

It suits a day between hikes, or a day when the high trails are in cloud.

Are the Dolomites busy in June?

Lodging is wide and spread out. The Seiser Alm region has hotels, holiday apartments, guesthouses, private rooms, farm holidays and mountain huts. The Dolomiti Bellunesi park has apartments, B&Bs, hotels, huts, hostels and guesthouses.

Book ahead if you want a particular hut or hotel on the plateau, and choose a village base if rooms on the Seiser Alm are full.

Every accommodation in South Tyrol adds a tourist tax to the room rate, paid on site by guests aged 14 and over. In Kastelruth, Seis am Schlern, Seiser Alm and Völs am Schlern it is €3.50 per person per night in 4-star, 4-star-S and 5-star places. In Tiers am Rosengarten the rates are €3.90, €3.40 and €2.90.

What to pack for the Dolomites in June

June asks for layers. Afternoons are mild, nights in Cortina fall to 48°F (9°C), and rain is likely on about a third of the days.

  • A warm layer for evenings in Cortina, where the night low is 48°F (9°C)
  • A rain jacket, since Cortina has 12 rainy days in June

  • An extra layer for Plan de Corones, at 7,431 feet (2,265 m)
  • Light clothes for Bolzano, where afternoons reach 82°F (28°C)

What to know before visiting the Dolomites in June

The free Cadini del Brenton tours do not start until July 5.

The tourist tax is paid on site and is added to the room rate. It rises with the star rating, so ask for the total before booking.

Is June a good time to visit the Dolomites?
