Leonardo painted the Last Supper between 1494 and 1497 for Ludovico il Moro. It covers the north wall of the refectory of the Dominican convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie. The mural measures 460 × 880 cm, about 15 by 29 feet. The complex has been on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1980.

Audioguides, multimedia stations and an educational room are part of the museum. A free official app is available for iOS and Android.

The main entrance has a short ramp, and a side gate with a ramp of about 16 feet (5 m) is available for people with motor disability. The room is reached through four automatic sliding doors and has six benches. A tactile relief lets blind visitors explore the composition, and the museum lends a wheelchair against an identity document.
