A trip in May or June falls outside that window.
Isla Espíritu Santo sits in the Bay of La Paz. It has been a national park since 2007 and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Islands and Protected Areas of the Gulf of California” since 2005. The malecón on the waterfront is where the weather station’s numbers apply most directly. We could not verify admission fees, hours or tour prices for either, so none appear here.
February’s air is the variable in these places. Highs of 79.7°F sit 5.0 degrees below March’s 84.7°F, which keeps a full day on deck or on a beach easier to sustain. The sea moves far less across the three months, by no more than 1.4 degrees.

Day two, the whale sharks. Spend it in the Bahía de La Paz refuge, inside a season that runs to April 30, 2027. The sea is 69.7°F, so bring a wetsuit or rash guard. If the weather turns, swap the two days around and give the water to the dry one.

Is February a good time to visit La Paz?
Yes for anyone who wants sunny days near 79.7°F, almost no rain and whale sharks in season. Less so for anyone counting on warm water, since the sea is 69.7°F. For U.S. travelers, the State Department’s Mexico advisory (reissued May 29, 2026) lists Baja California Sur at Level 2, exercise increased caution, due to terrorism and crime, with no specific restrictions on travel for U.S. government employees in the state.
If warm afternoons decide the trip, look at March: 84.7°F highs and 0.6 rain days. The nights gain only 1.7 degrees, from 55.0°F to 56.7°F, so pack a jacket in either month. For other destinations that suit your dates, the month-by-month hub is the next stop.
