That one shift is what the whole month is for: the desert outside the city turns walkable at noon, and a pool afternoon stops being automatic.

It takes things away too. Daylight on November 15 runs 10 hours 17 minutes, sunrise at 6:16 a.m. and sunset at 4:33 p.m. local, so any drive to Red Rock Canyon or Lake Mead has to start early to end in light. The desert west of town and the Spring Mountains above it both run colder after dark, so read these numbers as the valley’s own. A trailhead at elevation will be several degrees behind them.

Las Vegas weather in November: average highs, lows and rain days

The numbers above are published by NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information as 1991-2020 station normals: average high 67.1°F, average low 47.3°F, 0.30 inches of precipitation across the entire month. They come from a real gauge at the airport rather than a modeled grid cell, and that difference is worth knowing when two weather sites hand you readings several degrees apart for the same November.

Wet days are close to a rounding error. An average November records 0.7 days with a tenth of an inch or more, and 0.0 days with an inch or more. Spread over thirty days, a four-night stay averages about a tenth of one wet day. Build the outdoor half of your itinerary without a rain contingency and keep a single indoor afternoon in reserve for the exception.

What we can date is the air: November sits between October’s 81.2°F afternoons and December’s 56.9°F ones, and that alone changes what a hotel with a pool is worth to you. Treat any quote you are given as a quote for your dates alone.

With no rate curve to hand you, the booking method has to be mechanical. Pull quotes for two blocks of nights, one midweek and one weekend, and compare the all-in nightly total rather than the headline rate. The trade is length of day: 10 hours 17 minutes means the outdoor window opens and closes fast.

The obvious targets are Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area west of the city, Lake Mead National Recreation Area east of it, and the two walkable urban strips, the Strip itself and Fremont Street downtown. We could not verify current entry fees, timed-entry rules or seasonal gate hours for Red Rock Canyon or Lake Mead, so we publish none. Check the managing agency the week you travel, before you commit the morning.

Water changes far less than air at these places. Where water-temperature tables exist at all they usually average daily maxima, which reads a little warmer than a true 24-hour mean, and we found no verified series for Lake Mead. So the seasonal difference you will feel there is the 14.1°F the air has lost since October, plus a wind that arrives at a 47.3°F baseline once the sun goes.

Is November a good time to visit Las Vegas?

For anyone whose trip includes a canyon, a trail or ten miles a day on foot, yes, and the 67.1°F average makes the case without help. For a vacation built on a lounger and open water, no. Nights at 47.3°F and a month that counts 0.7 freezing ones do not make an outdoor pool a reliable plan, and we could not verify which properties heat theirs.

If the pool is the point, take October instead: 81.2°F days, 59.6°F nights, 0.32 inches of rain and a single wet day on average, all from the same NOAA table. December moves the other way, to a 56.9°F afternoon, so it solves nothing for swimmers and costs you daylight on top.

What November alone puts on the table is a valley you can cross on foot at noon and a desert you can walk at the same hour, with the lowest rainfall total of the three fall months, 0.30 inches.
